  1. Try this for a work around.

pick an area in the center of one of your drawings in 1:1 scale.

Zone in or out on it until the ruler at the top of the page matches +- your drafting ruler.

Save the view under 'saved views', name it "normal sacle" and select only restore view.... deselect all other options.....

no matter what layer, sheet, or other you are on, when you click this saved view on the navigation palatte, it will show on your screen as actual size (as it would print on the drawing paper)..... you will need to use the pan tool to find the area you are interested in looking at because 'restore view' takes you to the same spot on the page each time.... so select the middle of the page to work with when you 'save the view'.

this will not show actual line weights because of the screen pixels, but the drawing should be correct.

  2. I was having a problem w/ opaque windows in custom renderworks.... not only would the windows become opaque (anytime I used the 'segment' option) when viewed in custom renderworks, but the muntins and mullions would disappear. I have found that going to the 'custom renderworks options' and deselecting the 'use nurbs' command, fixes the problem....

    happy trails

  3. I have had this problem as well.... in all cases it was a layer link which was causing the problem. I tracked the problem down to a corrupted wall that could not layer link. I created a new design layer, layer linked it to a new sheet. copied the walls one at a time to the new design layer and checked to see if the layer link was still working. If it worked I copied another wall. when it quit working, I deleted the wall I had just copied the rest to the new design layer and fixed the problem....the layer link still worked, and they walked off, into the forest, happily ever after....

    best of luck

  4. Go to the small bar at the top of the drawing called "Classes" and select 'classes...'. Going from one tab to the next, make sure that they are all marked as visible. Or

go into the menu bar in"VIEW", select class options or layer options and select show all....

    that should do it.

  5. There is a bug, which only occurs occasionally, which makes the location of the info palattes freeze. they cant be moved. and they cant be windowshaded. Does anyone else out there have this problem.....

As with other bugs I have found, such as the stair pio stoppage, I find that by quitting and rebooting vectorworks, all is well again....

Before I post the bug, I'd like to find out if there are other occurances of the freezing problem.

  6. And I agree as well...

I use multiple sliding doors here in florida....

2,3, and 4 panel glass sliders that either dont pocket into the wall, pocket to one side, or pocket to both sides....

i have been making my own symbols to do this and adding a door record, but a door tool upgrade to add more panels would be nice... or customizible like the window tool....

thanks and pretty please as well

  7. Brian,

the best way to print something from vectorworks, if you want to print a whole sheet is by printing to pdf.... are you mac or pc.... if mac, just hit command P to print, and click on the pdf button on the bottom left of the print dialog box... "save to pdf" and then open the file in pdf and print it.

or export an image file as .jpg, which reduces the file size considerably....

    best of luck

    Mike

  8. litebrite,

often, when importing dwg files, the viewports are correctly sheet centered, but the other layers or classes are spread all over. I always import as layers. once imported, I zoom out to the max, make all layers visible, and see where the original drawing was created. then I select that area, change the layer visibility to active only, and copy paste each pertinent layer to a new formated, preset file that I use to start all drawings.

  9. John,

look in the info palatte at the top for a "render" tab. click on that and select a texture from the 'class texture' list from those available. if none are showing, go to the resources browser (menu item, window, palates)and select a texture. you can drag and drop the texture onto the item as well from the palatte to texture it.

  10. When you place a door or window object into a wall, there are four blue squares at the four corners of the door and one dot in the middle. If you select the center dot, you will be grabbing the door or window id tag, and you can move it anywhere you like.

    good luck

  11. Is there any way to make the electrical switch symbols "config label" rotate with the symbol as it is rotated? (other than converting to group) such that a 3 way switch symbol, as it is rotated, rotates the "S" as well as the "3"......
