  1. Ahhh...Thanks everyone. It all makes sense now! Eric
  2. Tragically that record does not seem to be attached to the fixture. I used the instrument insertion tool, so I don't think that is the problem. I'm at a loss here. The information must be coming from somewhere? Thanks, Eric
  3. Does anyone out there know where the photometric information is stored for a fixture? I see beam and field angles in the Object Info pane, but nothing indicate intensity. I'm trying to use the Photometer or Photogrid tools to estimate the intensity of some audience lighting, but I'm getting some values that don't make sense. I would like to verify what information VW uses to calculate the number of Foot-Candles. I'm using version 12.5.1 on a PC. Thanks, Eric
  4. When I try and export a drawing to a PDF which contains an imported PDF, the imported PDF outputs as a black square. I have also tried printing to several PDF creators, in which case Vectorworks crashes out. Any suggestions? I have upgraded to version 12.5.1 on Windows XP and changed computers and still have the same problem. Thanks, Eric Sambell
  5. I was forced to interupt my version 12.5 upgrade part way through. It was during the downloading 2 of 2 portion of the upgrade. When I went to reinstall the installer told me that I had already completed the upgrade. I have a feeling that I have only partially upgraded, although Vectorworks shows version 12.5 of the startup screen. Is there anyway to verify that install is actually complete, or restart the upgrade from scratch? I'm running Vectorworks on Windows XP. Thanks, Eric
  6. I've set up a symbol with an attached record, and filled in all the fields for each symbol. When I go to export database as text I get one record of 0,0,0 for each symbol and then the valid data. I've tried looking everywhere for a duplicate record but I can't find it. Any suggestions Thanks, Eric
  7. I'm rendering a fairly simple orthagonal hidden line view on a sheet layer. Whenever I do this it seems to do the rendering quite quickly, the little rendering status bar dissapears, and then it sits there for sometimes 10 minutes before I get control back. During this time it is completely unresponsive and doesn't give any feed back. What is with this? I can understand if it takes a while to render what I want, but it's incredibly frustrating to have to just sit there wondering whether it has crashed or not. Running version 12.0.1 on Windows XP. Thanks, Eric Sambell
  8. I've been having a problem lately with Ver 12.0.0.1. Everytime I move the mouse up to the file menu and miss, Vectorworks locks up. It shows the hourglass, eats up a bunch of CPU, but never comes back. I'm running on Windows XP. Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric Sambell
  9. I've created my own drawing border as a symbol, and it has a notes field, which is linked to a record. In the symbol I set the width of the text to fit in the space I have, expecting it to wrap nicely when I fill in the record. No such luck. Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric Sambell
  10. Thanks, it worked great. Although if I had to stare at that white background all day I'd go insane. I like my blacked out, neon-brite, Autocadesque world. Eric
  11. I put a rendering of a part on a sheet layer. I use a black background in Vectorworks, so the sheet layer looks great. Unfortunately when I go to print it I get a black background around my part. What makes it even worse is that my cropping isn't a square so it looks very bad. Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric Sambell
  12. I'm trying to do a perspective view in a viewport on a sheet layer. The easiest way I've found to get the view I want is to set up a renderworks camera, since trying to line up a perspective any other way seems almost impossible. I'd then like to put the view I get from the camera into a vieport on a sheet layer in order to get a title block around it. Any suggestions? Thanks, Eric
  13. Well, that was an easy fix....if only I could get it to stop crashing whenever I try and do an openGL render....I guess that's tommorow.... Eric
  14. I'm trying to render a simple scene as a hidden line oblique elevation. It consists of about 12 drapes and 4 truss lines, some roof trusses and a stage. Admitedley the overall drawing is quite complex, but only a few layers are turned on. Even if I only turn the drapes on it still takes an obscenely long time to do the projection, upwards of ten minutes. In my experience with other CAD software(not mentioning any names...) on the same computer, a similarily complex task would take a fraction of the time. Any tips? Thanks, Eric Sambell
