Hey! I'm looking for a way to share VWX Files, but choosing the contents you want to share. I think im kind of searching for the same options you have when exporting as a DWG. I would like to quickly be able to share a working file of a project, but withholding any company resources, worksheets etc. Im sure this has been visited before, but i couldnt find anything in search. The problem with just copying what i see on screen into a blank file is that obviously my design layer viewports of other files wont transfer, and worksheets, that i do not want shared, still follows. Is there a tool or something for this? Cheers

Hey! See file attached below. I thought i'd finally solved my hoist colouring issue by using data tags with data viz. Until i actually started making changes to a touring plot made with these said data tags. It seems as when you snap a hoist to a truss, unless you let your mouse go at the centerline exactly, the data tags will stay at the point you let your mousebutton go. I'm very much in the habit of using a pipe of the truss as a guide and smartpoints from elsewhere to line things up. Does not matter if the data tag is locked or not. Is there any way around this? I can live with accidentally selecting the tags instead of the hoist, but this is a tad bit to frustrating. Cheers Datatag Snapping issue-26.vwx

Yes, i've managed to make a worksheet, that uses a script to map the Hoist ID to the Name field of its connected bridle. And that whole endeavour made me think that there must be an easier way! But maybe that route is what i should focus on! Thanks for the inputs!

So, just a followup. Pushing data INTO OIPs is a hard limit? or is there SOME fields/values that can be populated by a mapping?

I've not gotten so far as to actually have anything in a file that is not already in a blank document. This is a blank document with 3 hoist objects put in, nothing else. I would love to map the "function" field to fill based on what layer it is on for example, but im just trying to get started somewhere. Im mostly curious as to why "parametric object - hoist" fields are not definable nor mappable, and why criteria based ((PON='BrxHoist')) says no objects found, when it actually does find objects when editing the criteria! I've found that there isnt really much information regarding WHAT you can do with the tool, as in different use cases, or maybe im just bad at looking.

Is Hoist objects limited in the Data Manager in VWX2026? Im trying to learn how to do some automatic mapping and making custom datasheets, showing only the information i need. Very new to using the Data Manager at all, so any tip is welcome! Cheers Using "parametric object - Hoist" Gives everything, but mappings and conditions are greyed out. Creating a criteria based mapping, finds 3 objects in the criteria dialog, but nothing in the data sets window

Viewport crop is placing a polygon in design layer & I don't want it there
BRSebbe replied to jtempleton's question in Troubleshooting
I see your point. Im not too invested in how these crop objects actually work yet. Are they tied to the viewport that created them? Meaning you could move them to actually change the view in your viewport? Would you pre configure your class with attributes that you put these in? Im mostly annoyed with the line thickness and color these defaults to Not at a computer for testing for a few hours. -

Please do, this could be extremely helpful for organizing different viewports in a template file for example! -

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but is there a way to use preset attributes / Classing for this reference crop object? -
Is there a way to find exactly the formula/strings that this report is generated by? I want to make something similar for my own markouts, but i do want to edit and/or format the values in each cell. Cheers

Thanks, i will try it out! You really should. While i can understand some things about structural and support elements are locked for editing ( albeit a bit to many things are in my opinion) There really should be easier ways to get all kinds of information about such things, i regurarly do shows with 100+ bridles, and there isnt really an easy way to communicate information about them in a optimal way. I guess there is no way that'll fit everyone, but making the information available for use in data tags and worksheets atleast enables each user to build their own systems of documentation!

Hey! The updated Bridle tool in VWX26 has been a HUGE step in the right direction when it comes to effectively drawing bridles in your designs. Gone from practically unusuable without a huge amount of extra work, to quick and easy and customizable! However that uncovers some big bumps in the road of making it a properly functioning tool, and that is: Information! What is desperately needed is more ways of extracting, and communicating information regarding Bridle objects. The main 3 for me are: ID/Name of the object the bridle is connected to, wether it is a Hoist, Truss or a simple point load. ID/Name of what Leg1 is connected to at the top. ID/Name of what Leg2 is connected to at the top. On top of that i think the Bridle Diagram command needs an update aswell, we need to be able to configure both the layout and the information displayed in a bridle diagram, and also be able to print labels of said! Im thinking of something similar to the Spotlight -> Lighting Reports -> Create Labels command. Extra fluff and maybe just a fantasy for me is to be able to set designations for your coordinates in a drawing. For example if im drawing a production in a venue, my internal/user origin is set to the middle of the venue, for easy referencing of other departments. My Hoist origin is set to the downstage edge of the stage, then i would want to set: Y: Upstage Y-: Downstage X: Stage Left X-: Stage Right Y,X-: Upstage Right Etc.. That would open up a whole world of possibilities for creating effective information flow across projects. This ended up a bit longer than intended, and parts might not be fitting for this part of the forum, but its quite related to eachother anyhow! Cheers!

Hey! Im trying to create some worksheets for paperwork. Is there a way to display the ID of the Hoist object connected to a Bridle Object? OR A way to have bridle objects have their ID adopt the name/ID of the hoist/truss/load object? Ive been searching elbow deep everywhere i can think of, and getting a bit frustrated, because there clearly is a way the software can do this since the connected hoist ID shows up in a bridle diagram created from a bridle object. Cheers
