  1. Thank you both for your replies. I had the set back at 1" but, as Peter said, this was not shown when you opened the file. I think maybe I was just not using the green checkmark to execute the function. Seems to work now. thanks!
  2. I draw a simple square. I extrude it to be a cube. I try to chamfer one of the edges using the CHAMFER EDGE tool. The OIP always says "Extrude Locked". I have read that this is a bug. I have tried it in a new document (not my template). Still never works. Any thoughts? Seems like a very simple problem in a very expensive program. If anyone has solved this issue, I'd love to know. thanks, Edmund chamfer edge fail.vwx
  3. Bingo! I think that has fixed it. Thank you!
  4. Pat, I have 2D Conversion Resolution set to Very High. I noticed that when the Section elevation line is much closer to the wall, the faceting goes away. But it needs to be fractions of an inch away to stop the faceting. This won't work if I want to show moulding on a wall. And it seems like a clumsy fix to what should be a simple problem
  5. Thanks, Pat. Details for Shaded Options is set to high. It looks fine if my render option is just shaded. It is only when I choose Hidden Line as my setting (for background OR foreground) that I get this faceting. It is now doing it in another drawing I'm working on today. Very annoying
  6. I have read a number of threads here and have tried all the suggested solutions but none work. So I thought I would ask the community. I have an arched opening in a wall (for a film set). The opening is a 2d/3d symbol that cuts an opening in the 3" thick wall and has a 6" deep jamb. It looks fine in my 3d design layer. But when I cut a section for my sheet layer elevation, the curve appears faceted. My sheet layer render settings are Shaded for background and Hidden Line for foreground. It is only the Hidden line setting that looks faceted. I have tried the two solutions I have read about here: Changing the Smoothing Angle in the hidden line settings and Changing the 3D conversion resolution in preferences to Very High. Neither fixes this issue. It is not a complex arch. Any suggestions much appreciated.
