Thank you both and apologies for the delay in replying - I was focussing on pencil /paper design for a large project but now I have to draw it up in CAD! I am STILL experiencing problems with hardscapes not draping properly. I've tried the datum as you suggested but it hasn't changed anything. I've logged a call with VW technical help so will post their reply as it may be helpful for others.

Hi, I'm slowly getting to grips with the 3D site modelling and now having created my terrain model I need to create draped hardscapes and texture bed modifiers which align with the existing site model (these are existing surfaces which will be staying as they are as part of the design). When I create them and update the site model, sections of the drape or texture are submerged under the site model and I can't figure out why this is happening. I have ensured that there are grade limits around the area Any tips would be most appreciated! Best wishes, Jilly
