I think you're probably right. I do not have that many files to merge so it wouldn't be too bad. Thanks for your help!

I am wondering if there is an easy way to "flatten" multiple files that reference each other into one new file. Is there an easier/ faster way to do this other than to take one file, import the design layers that are referenced then delete the reference file for every file referenced?
