  1. Can I insert the titleblock at 0,0 when dragging it into the sheet layer from the resource browser? Is that what the x and y fields are for in the sheet layer setup?
  2. I'm designing a museum exhibit and have this VW 11 drawing with a dozen jpgs images. The problem is that the file size is starting to expand and I want to reduce it so that it'll save and handle faster. Is there a technique to reduce or purge or optimize a file containing alot of jpegs? Also I should mention that the irregular images are EPSs with clipping paths. They tend to be huge to start with because they are not compressed at all. As far as I know this is the only way to import irregular images with masked out backgrounds. Thanks
  3. Can VW 11 extend a group of lines to another line that serves as a fence? The lines would be parallel or convergent. The single Object Connect tool only does one line at a time. Thanks.
  4. How do I import dwg/dxf files into VW and maintain sheets or viewports alignment. Currently when importing multiple, connected files, they seem to shift or have uncommin origins.
  5. I have a student who wants to learn the best way to organize his drawings. Besides the Layers, classes, saved views, and view ports, are there any other important features that should be employed for construction documents? My student wants to create plans, elevations, and sections usiing Architect 11. I plan to tell him all about worksheets and its database properties, so I've got that area covered. Thanks in advance...
  6. What are the pros and cons of the callout tool and it's properties? I'm from the old school and use text blocks and arrows. Does anyone use the database feature that is connected to VW Architect? Some of my students like the old way with manual text and arrows, but I'd like to convince them that the callout tool is the best choice. Any thoughts out there regarding this?
  7. How do you setup the project types for your initial file in VW Architect? For instance: Residential Remodel/New Residence/Small Commercial/etc? I fould the worksheet in theplugin folder that I think lies behind the inner workings, but I can't find how to set up this whole thing up automatically.
  8. Thanks, Travis, that really worked. The pasting of cariage return did the trick. It really is like using the old Olivetti I had in college
  9. I have a nifty 11 x 17 title block symbol that VW created for me in the drawing setup command. Now I want to wrap the text in the the project info, etc. I tried editing the the symbol but the info that I initially put in with the Issue Manager does not wrap, and so it goes out in one line beyond the printing border. Any tips to get this to work? I'm using VW10 for a client. I have VW 11 as well for myself. Also I searched the tech archives. I found some interesting posts but none about my problem
  10. Thanks, Katie, but the Trace Bitmap tool is too much of a blunt instrument. I'm tracing archaeological photos of objects and that tool just makes mush out of it. Well, I'll just have live with the slowness of the freehand pen tool. Makes nice drawings that I can scale into a caselayout for exhibit design. Examples can be seen at my website: web page
  11. After importing a JPEG in VW11 the freehand drawing tool operates and saves really slowwwwly. However, if I do the same thing in VW 10 using 16 bit option everything works just fine. My work around is to first trace in VW10 and then past into VW11, which is more time consuming. Is there a way to trim down an image file more than offered now? I'm tracing with the freehand tool and scaling a lot of art objects for a museum case layout. I delete the object image after I finish hand tracing. Markus Dohner
