  1. if you are referring to a scale bar, there is an object called 'scale bar' in the tool pallette. you can change it to look the style you want in the OIP. as far scaling symbols, they are place in a layer at the layer's scale. they cannot be sized different, unles you explode them. hope this helps...

  2. i would use a combination of an extrude and a regular wall to get that effect. that way the object can be attached to a wall, and the extrude will give the illusion of a battered wall. we did something similar for a building that had exterior walls with windows that slanted off the vertical, it worked well in the model. hope this helps...

  3. layers cannot be classed, but classes can be seen through various layers, depending on their visibility. it sounds like you have a layer/class visibility question with viewports, but i am not sure/ i am not clear on what you are up to, can you rephrase your problem?

  4. It would be nice to be able to turn off all layers, except the active one, while importing multiple DWG file. Now, if I am importing over 20 or so file, the import really slows down because the file regens all the previously imported layers. I just imported around 400 files from a joist hanger manufacturer and it took around an hour.

  5. It would be nice if there was a quicker way to edit viewports instead of exiting them and re-entering them to work on different aspects. For example, if I were working on annotations and wanted to work on the crop, I have to exit annotations and enter to crop. It absorbs alot of time. Also it would be nice to be able to edit the design layer once in the viewport (thanks to Rich Carroll for this suggestion).

  6. if you look at the 'worksheet functions' section of the manual (or help file through vw), you'll see the many parameters you can enter to get info from object with records attached. for example, typing in '=l' in the database header will get you the layer that the objects are on. 'a' will get you area, 'n' will gate you the name, 'c' will get the class, 's' the symbol name.... you get the picture.

  7. i beleive DWF files are autocad's attempt to create their own version of PDF. since it is a proprietory file system, i would look at seeing if there is a viewer for those files where you can take a snapshot of the drawing, or part of drawing. hope this help...

  8. It would be nice if the insertion point of this object could be changed to the center of the circle instead of the end. We use them for workpoint graphics, and I just found that if one is sent from one layer to another, and you change a property of it, it will slide over towards the insertion pouint to fit that layer's scale. Could cause serious dimension headaches...

  9. i am not sure what you mean by 'facett (facet) lines'. but, try 'hidden line' rendering, which is a standard renerding tool in vw. in this way the objects in view appear rendered in solid lines. 'dashed hidden lines' will get you the same thing with the hidden lines dashed. hope this helps...

  10. create the new file with the symbols you like in it. save it to your resource folder. in VW, go to the resource browser and select the 'files and folders' button. in the drop down menu select 'add new favorite files' and navigate to the file you just saved. once it's there you can access any item in that file through the resource browser. hope that helps...

  11. if you are talking about special characters or 'dingbats' (like ??????∑fl???)? use your option key with any other key on your keyboard. if you have fontbook on your mac, go to the edit pull down menu and go to 'special charatcter' to see hundreds of them. there used to be a utility called 'keycaps' which showed you what character you could get with any key combination, but i don't know if it is around anymore. hope this helps...
