Hi Jim I have attached an image that I think might help. It is odd because this seems to be a function of the title block but it never allows me to have it indicate anything other than "sheet scale"

Can someone tell me how to add or change the the scale line on the title block. Nothing happens when I add info into the scale field of the "edit title block" tool. thanks

thanks for your thoughts Joeeph I did use that technique for making exposed rafter tails on the same project. Although for the standing seam detail, I fond it was pretty easy to just extrude a seam and add it to the roof. I used the mirror tool a lot on duplicate roof faces in order to save time. Cheers

Hi can someone give me a bit of help with this one. I'm sure it is something simple I am over looking, but for the life of me I cant seem to figure out what is going on. Why am i not getting standard naming options when I try to add sheets to my file. I have tried this several ways but no luck. even when I go to create a new document, click on a standard and create the document I only get a few pre-named layers and that is it. No sheets area added to the file. Maybe the pic will help

Well a square opening seems to be the best i can do. I would really like to have a cathedral ceiling in the room below the dormer. For some reason the cut out will only be orthogonal.

Thanks Wes I have played around with a few methods and the fit walls to roof seems to be the best option. My next question would be, how do I remove all the hip roof information inside and out of the dormer. I don't want to use the subtract solid option because I want to maintain the editable aspect of the roof symbol. I have tried to create a skylight cut out by making a 3D symbol the size and shape of the hole but when I click the "do not insert object" option, I dont get a hole. Nothing is there, but the dormer option are.i have tried flipping and changing the object in edit mode but not change. I attached an image. thanks Chris

Hi I am trying to get a bit of work done before the World Cup Final and I have a question about dormers. I would like a dormer window to extend down into the second floor wall below. Does anyone have a preferred method for this? Would it be wise to use the dormer tool then ungroup and deconstruct or use the roof face tool to build the dormer and then modify the walls? Is there a way to use the dormer tool and eliminate the gable end wall that contains the window? I have attached an image of what I would like. Thanks chris

Thanks I think it might end up being a variety of these but I do like the surface array option and large symbols idea. the roof is hipped with four equally sized dormers, so I believe ill be able to set up a couple large symbols and then add them to the roof as needed. Ill follow up with what I come up with. Thanks Chris

Thanks Peter With the high quality of Renderworks these days I would like the seams to cast a shadow. I guess Ill have to extrude the profiles. Does it make sense to create one and then convert it to a symbol? Chris

Hi I am trying to make a corner window and am having a bit of trouble. A window symbol will not work, using the wall recess command does not work (it leaves part of the very corner and wont create an opening that wraps around), and i can't get the wall hole component tool to work. I have attached an image of what happens with the recess option any and all help and comments wold be greatly appreciated. Chris

AH HA! it appears that during the initial design process I had put in duplicate doors that were not showing up when i got to the CD portion of the design. It wasn't until I isolated layers and turned on and off classes that I found them. Cheers Chris

for some reason when I right click on the data base header the "set criteria" option is greyed out.

Hi How do I set the criteria to not include the viewports. I have looked at the spread sheet function options (paste criteria) and used the custom setting to create the different criteria but I am still getting a lot more doors then what is in the project. Thanks

Hi When I generate a schedule using tools/reports/va create schedule, the schedule that gets generated has multiple doors with the same ID. When I use the "select item" option form the spread sheet, the door on the schedule appears but none of the options are selected that would place it on the schedule. I cant get rid of them. Any ideas? Thanks Chris

Hi I am trying to produce a 3d object file so I can print an object with my Makerbot. In my older version of VW I was able to export a Obj. file that would work with the Makerware/replicator software.I have tried exporting almost every file type available but not luck. Any ideas? File types: it will take Obj., Stl. files or Gcode files. Thanks Chris

that did the trick. The default margins in the printer settings were shifting everything over and off the page. I change them all to zero. Cheers

When it is in a PDF it is fine and when it it is in the window of the printer options
