That is great thanks, it works. I just went to look at the next steps, ie how it looks in viewport so that I can export to pdf to print, and the drawing is too large for the viewport, when I view the pdf file for printing it only has a part of the drawing on it ...

I have converted some pdf files to .dwg files using Investintech.com free download service. I have then imported the files into Vectorworks. I read that is best to choose "Import DWG files using specified units" , which I have done. However when I use the dimension tool it measures the distance as 40, whereas the distance is 800mm. The scale on the drawing that I have imported says 1:20. When I go to Tools, Organization, Design layers its has a few items that say 1:20 and the last says design layer and has 1:50. I have tried changing to 1:20 but it makes no difference.. I am stuck !
