  1. Oi...what a clutz. I completely missed that. Thanks.
  2. Just figured out I can use the B key and grab it that way. Still seems stupid to have to do that.
  3. the symbol is "Vehicle Lexus RX 2014"
  4. massing e 9-23-23.vwxhere's the file
  5. Nope. Both L & C fully visible and active.
  6. Looks like the only way to grab it and move it around is to change to WF either by leaving it the view as is and change the render setting to WF or by going to top-plan view. Totally screwy.
  7. Well its even worse than that. Even when I manage to select it by bounding it then I can't do anything with it. I can't move it around at all. I can use the rotate tool to spin it around but that's it.
  8. I activated and dropped a vehicle symbol from the library into my file. It is on a layer called "upper level" and VW automatically put it in a class Site-Cars and both are active. For some reason I can not select it without using a bounding box. What gives? when I hover over it the snap points pop up, the windshield mesh highlites, etc. but I cant click on it and move it around or rotate it or anything usefull with dragging a box around it. That is wierd. Any sage words?
  9. I have a viewport with various extrudes that have differing class properties. Within the viewport I would like to have one of the classes reder as hidden line and the rest to rener as shaded. Is that possible?
  10. That is what I made. Precisely I used a circle with solid fill with a 3/8" diameter. It was created in the top (x,y) plane then rotated to the y,z plane. The sqaure was created in the x,y plane with a 17.25" side length then the corners were rounded using the filet tool with a 1"diameter. The square was then located so one of the edges was coincident with the center of the circle. Then extrude along path and I got what you show. No snapping properties at all no matter what combinations of snap settings used. Also tried the brute force of closing and reopening VW to no avail. Tried to insert a locus noted in previous email but that didn't work. I finally had to start over and my solution was to create the locus with the square then do the extrude. Now the locus existed as a separate object that I could group with the extrude to have a handle. Should be an easier solution. FYI, hat I am modeling is a some dumb little #3 hoops for some reinforcement. Just want to be sure what I specify can be built. Thanks,
  11. No luck. Double clicked and chose modify path. Added a locus point and closed the edit. No locus anywhere to be found.
  12. created a circle then a square with rounded corners normal to the plane of the circle. Then extruded the circle along the square as the path. All went well but now the extrude has no snap points. No edges or corners or centers...nothing. Anybody got a clue why? Makes it hard to drag the object around and place it accurately.
  13. I have a common situation where I call out a bolt or hole diameter dimension in a string of text such as "5/8" "diameter" AB @ ..." I prefer to use the upper case greek letter phi rather than spelling out the word diameter. When using the Call Out tool how can I change the font of the individual letter in the string or insert the symbol in the string?
  14. I have created some wall on a layer in a class. The class is set to solid fill and the "use at creation" is checked. When I click on the walls they are in that class and the fill attributes are "class style". The walls don't fill! I'm stumped. They are simple two sided generic walls. And yes, the layer and class of the walls are on and set as active layer and class, and the opacity is 100%. Why wont they render? BTW, I changed some walls on another layer that were drawn on the none class and rendered fine to the same class as the ones above. They rendered fine bu the ones on the layer in question just wont work.
  15. Need a simple gridline tool that works on sheet layer instead of design layer. The gridlines on smaller jobs are there simply as a means of communication between the designer and builder. For example, say the contractor calls and asks what size is the beam at the master bathroom door? As the EOR I don't have a damn clue where the master bathroom is nor do I have the bandwidth to recall such things. So, what I do is impose some sort of gridlines so I can get a location relative to that not the room names. Haveing to do the gridlines on the design layer and fiddlefart with tuning it to hopefully interact with subsequent annotations ands dimensions of the sheet layer is a royal pain in the butt. Why not have such a tool that can be done as an annotation. If the BIM info is needed use the design layer tool, otherwise have one that can simply be an annotation tool.
  16. Has this been implemented? I need it. It's ridiculous that this isn't there. Just spent the last 45 minutes screwing around trying to find it a s I rightly assumed it would be available. I used the "printer setup" under "page setup" to set the landscape orientation via the printer. Seems like it should be an option above that in the page setup area for at least letter size pages.
  17. I just figured out it was working. I thought it wasn't because when I draw the lines with the mouse I click and drag and relaese. The un-highlighted lines are all three the fndn-gb line. However when I click to complete the lines it changes to a highlited version of what I expect. So I guess it is just a piculiar attribute of the preview of the lines prior to completion of the click completion that shows all of them as the active class then when completed it applies the component attributes. Sorry about that.
  18. Well I thought so but I'm still stuck. I openned the tool and I added two components. #1 Definition: set to Class/fndn-gb (this class is set to be a line type that is a long dashed line with a .35 LW I created) Thickness: 5.5" Fill: none Left Pen: Style: line type = fndn-gb Right Pen: Style: None Thickness = 0 #2 Definition: set to Class/wall abv (this class is a the default short dashed line type- ISO-02 Dashed- with a .18 LW) Thickness: 4.5" Fill: none Left Pen: Style: Line Type Line Type: ISO-02 Dashed Right Pen: Style: Line Type Line Type: fndn dashed What I expect to occur is three lines with the two outer lines the fndn dashed line type and the inner line to be the ISO-02 Dashed. All I get is three fndn dashed lines. Note that this occurs whether I have the Definition:Class set to wal abv or fndn dashed. I've tried fiddling with the short dashed line being the right line of #1 and the left line of #2, messed with the Remove By Class button and nothing gets me what I want. I just can't seem to figure out how this functions. BTW the active class is set to fndn-gb, class visibility is set to show/snap/modify others, and the wall abv class is set to be visible.
  19. Thanks. That's what I thought but the way things are named makes this really confusing. I suppose its just getting used to the VW language. The otther issue is getting the class attributes for each of the lines figured out.
  20. I am having a similar issue in a way. I don't want to use the Wall tool but use the Double Line tool and add a third line in between the two outer lines. I want two solid lines 8" appart and a third dashed line between 3.5" from one of the outside lines. I select the DL tool and set the space to 8". Then I selct Tool Preferences/Components. Then I add a component and set the spacing to 3.5" and close out. However the Seperation changes to 3.5" This makes no god damn sense. When I go back into the Tool Preferences and look at components there is only 1 component. I think there a nomenclature problem here. Is a component supposed to be 2 lines? I don't understand the terms and the VW help is useless on this. This is the most convoluted confusing tool I've encountered so far. I was able to get what I want by creating two compponents. The first with a spacing of 3.5" and the second with 4.5". The only problem is that the second componentdraws a line over the adjoing first component. I wish there was some good videos on using this tool.
