  1. Pat, one other salient point ...

    VW is just NOT real-world friendly ... these days everyone works with multiple apps... simultaneously ... including persistent web & email.

    The OIP Dumb would be one small step toward closing the gap.

    Copy info from the OIP and paste it into an email ... editing as required.

    How hard is that ?

  2. OIP Dump:

    Can you explain more about why you want this, how you want it to work and what you need it to do?

    My script to create a worksheet showing all of the fields of a PIO is a good start to doing this. I just am having a hard time wrapping my head around what this is good for and how it should work.{/quote]

    Indeed, your excellent script dumps the OIP info into a Worksheet container ... which is really great !

    Nevertheless, there are many times when a simple TextContainer is all that is necessary to produce a Call-out or Notation ... simply editing the text fields cuts out the middle-man ; )

    Using Worksheets to harvest the OIP data just adds one more layer of complexity.

    My reasoning is that basic functionality... just like with a Browser should be

    WYSIWYCG ... What You See is What You Can Grab ... imagine the hassle factor of having to run a special worksheet script every time you need to copy & paste some snip-it of text from this forum into your postings.

  3. Howabout an OIP Dump Procedure...

    it works like this:

    Since every object has an associated OIP container with the ObjectInfo...

    then it is possible to >

    Dump ( copy ) all that info text from all fields within the OIP container

    and move it ( paste ) to a new Dump container or Text Container or Note Container , etc...

    simple... quick ... and very useful

  4. Very interesting ... professional presentation...

    noting the incredibly massive support mechanism versus the very limited surface area of those four metal <> plastic connections ...

    it would appear that windloading ( on that arced shade ) is sufficient to

    deform and over stress those tiny attachment points.

  5. Indeed... a vicious cycle ...

    Try>Export a test File as Vectorscript Text:

    Then> look for the Font declaration codes:

    TextFont(GetFontID('Courier'));

    TextOrigin(-2'9.999999999999995",3'9.000000000000023");

    BeginText;

    'This is Courier font'

    EndText;

    Note that GetFontID uses the TextString= Courier

    which is easily corrupted if there are multiple versions of Courier in the OS FilePath ( recursive ).

    On OSX> Font Book app. will clarify the issues and help correct the problems.

  6. Suggestion to replace 'Compose':

    conjoin |kənˈjoin; k?n-|

    verb [ trans. ] formal

    join; combine : an approach that conjoins theory and method.

    ORIGIN late Middle English : from Old French conjoindre, from Latin conjungere, from con- ?together? + jungere ?to join.?

    _______

    compose |kəmˈpōz|

    verb [ trans. ]

    1 write or create (a work of art, esp. music or poetry) : he composed the First Violin Sonata four years earlier.

    ? write or phrase (a letter or piece of writing) with care and thought : the first sentence is so hard to compose.

    ? form (a whole) by ordering or arranging the parts, esp. in an artistic way : compose and draw a still life.

    ? order or arrange (parts) to form a whole, esp. in an artistic way : make an attempt to compose your images.

    2 (usu. be composed) (of elements) constitute or make up (a whole) : the system is composed of a group of machines.

    ? be (a specified number or amount) of a whole : Christians compose 40 percent of the state's population.

    3 calm or settle (oneself or one's features or thoughts) : she tried to compose herself.

    ? archaic settle (a dispute) : the king, with some difficulty, composed this difference.

    4 prepare (a text) for printing by manually, mechanically, or electronically setting up the letters and other characters in the order to be printed.

    ? set up (letters and characters) in this way.

    ORIGIN late Middle English (in the general sense [put together, construct] ): from Old French composer, from Latin componere (see component ), but influenced by Latin compositus ?composed? and Old French poser ?to place.?

    USAGE On the differences between comprise and compose, see usage at comprise .

  7. "Open Recent" is a FilePath > Alias , nothing more.

    If for some reason VW losses the FilePath to a directory then the Alias breaks.

    The files still exist somewhere in there original directory structure.

    Check>Preferences>User Folders.

    It's just a matter of locating them again. VW will reestablish the links via File>"Open".

  8. Once 'pon a time ... most of us were in the same legacy boat ...

    not to worry ... invest in the most power you can afford then jump onto the learning curve.

    Just don't be too hard on yourself ... start with the familiar basics and move toward the more complex processes and tools.

    These forums are a priceless resource ... we will be there for you each step of the way.
