Has the CPU core limit been lifted?

The limit is still in place, however some good news: We have not detected any threading-related problems in tessellation, so the engineers in charge of the VGM are discussing removing the limit completely. I will keep an ear on this as it affects a lot of my work as well, and if there ends up being a way to enable more cores prior to an update, (this is possible but only something id push for if we don't plan to simply unlock it in the near future) I will post.

  2. Since it's an older version that wont get any patches, and since that sounds familiar as a bug that's likely been fixed since then: Your best bet may just to be to disable the class of the bitmaps in the section viewport then simply place the bitmaps behind/in front (whichever is appropriate) of the section viewport on the sheet layer directly.

Hey, I have the same problem as above! Could I also get some help with this issue.

Log in here and make sure you have requested either an extension of your current license or the most recent version if you like:

I am a student and my license expired two days ago. I submitted an extension request yesterday. I have a large project that needs to be finished by tonight. What is the timeline for an extension request being approved?

I see no student accounts under the email you used to sign up here on the forum, is it possible you used a different one?

  4. So far I haven't found a good eGPU solution for the Macbooks, for some reason even in Mojave, I havent seen the expected speed increases like I saw on the Mac Mini. Mojave claims to be able to boost graphics performance even on the native internal display, but so far in all my tests I see slower performance both in Vectorworks and other benchmark apps, will post more once I find out whats going on.

This is a 2 year old computer, and an expensive one. There's no good reason why Vectorworks should not be compatible.

If it does not have a dedicated card, that would the precise reason why. We can not guarantee compatibility just because of the cost of user hardware, only it's actual capability. We have much more stringent requirements than other software packages, yes.

  6. It's the legacy tech holdover as we transition things to the VGM. Eventually it will be gone and Vectorworks will always use Best Performance.

The main two reasons it is still here are 1) for users who insist on using hardware below our recommendations, and 2) to allow workarounds while the VGM is upgraded and polished. We won't get rid of it until there is no longer a need to mess with it at all during troubleshooting and it no longer "resolves" any visibility issues by letting you revert to the old engine.

Looking at the SP1.1 update for 2019 and I notice landmark gets site model updates? Did architect get these updates as well?

Yes, sorry for the confusion. I sorted them by area of interest, I didn't mean to imply the fixed listed below each category were only for a namesake module.

Is the hope at VW that this will be fixed as part of the next Mojave update? Has it been fixed in macOS 10.14.2 beta 3?

From what I've heard the majority of the printing issues are printers that don't yet have Mojave drivers, so after that it's up to the manufacturer. Apple won't tell us anything ahead of time though, if they end up fixing it they will just roll it into a patch.

  9. This caught my attention in all the Black Friday add flood, this seems very, very pricey to me for the functionality it offers, but how useful or important would something like this be for you all?

I'm completely addicted to my spacenavigator knob, but things like these seem to be more of a niche convenience feature than something that let's you control things in a way you couldn't otherwise.

I would like to upgrade to Mojave, but I still use VW2017 to import Revit kitchen equipment files because importing doesn’t work properly on VW 2018 or 2019. Does anyone know if 2017 works well enough on Mojave to just import a Revit object and save the file?

It looks like this is still possible. Nothing got in my way on Mojave in 2017 badly enough that I could not import the RFA and then save that file and bring it into 2018 or 2019.

I have also edited the forum permissions so that RFAs can be directly uploaded in the future.

After SP2, Revit equipment files are still not importing properly. I can see the objects as they import, but once it is finished, there is nothing there. This is the first thing I check every time a new SP comes out.

Thank you for that, I was indeed able to replicate this as well. I will make sure this is filed properly as thats a long time for this to have gone unfixed.

As for 2017, I have heard that users were able to open it but that the UI was very, very strange and deformed. However, if you are literally just opening 2017, importing the RFA, then saving and bringing that into 2019 it may be just capable enough on Mojave. I will test with one of the mojave macs here, stand by.

  12. The Surface Studio 2 is excellent hardware and would handle Vectorworks quite well. However, it's accessories like the Surface Dial we do not have direct support for, so it would not be something you could take advantage of in Vectorworks specifically.

Vectorworks' UI is nearly identical on Mac vs PC, there is a very slight learning curve for some of the shortcuts, but menus and tools are all found in the same location. The one note I would make is that on Mac, the color picker is superior, as Apple's color picker utility is superior to the one found on Windows, and we use the OSes built in picker tool.

Do you mean ‘no reason not to argue these points’?

the less we insist on ifc the less chance we will get it. Rvt file format does not get a mention as the primary file exchange format in my BEP. One thing it does do is initiate the discussion about IFC exchange even if rvt consultants decide to issue rvt files between themselves.  No problem with that as long as they can guarantee the same geometry exists in the ifc.

that said if you are saddled with a rvt file from someone and you cannot get an ifc find a mate with rvt and get them to export it to ifc.

same result ultimately since any rvt specific functionality will be lost but that’s to be expected.

@Sky came here because they are hitting a wall and need help over it. Im sure if they could have avoided Revit entirely already, they would have.

I DON'T KNOW WHY I HAVE TO DEFEND MY ARCHITECTURAL PRACTICE ON THIS "SUPPORT" FORUM

Of course you don't. Please excuse the above. Did you happen to have the same problem importing those revit files after 2019 sp2 was released? If you havent had a chance to try it yet, please send me the files I can do so for you.
