  1. Others have mentioned it as well it is so annoying to have to repeatedly click ( sometimes 5 times) to get rid of the " 777-778 Polygon handle is not assigned " error message that comes up nearly every time a plant is placed on a drawing I do click 3 times as suggested but it still happens Is this problem cured in the upcoming fix Robert ? Also how far off is the release of this next patch as the PRD problems are also a pain in the neck ? Thanks Robert Viper x [ 01-29-2003, 04:34 AM: Message edited by: Viper x ]
  2. I need to enter dozens of new plants into the plant ref data base but as I said this function does not work properly. There is another way of doing it via the Plant Database Utility I believe, I was after the simple steps to enter the new plant info via this function. The steps can be much clearer to follow when explained in point form by you here. Thanks Viper x
  3. Excellent Robert. If possible could you set out simple steps to enter plants through the main data base for me please. Thanks Viper x [ 01-20-2003, 04:44 PM: Message edited by: Viper x ]
  4. Trying to enter new plants through this function is a nightmare, at alternate attempts the plant does the following : 1. Does not enter at all. 2. Goes in the list in no alphabetical order at all 3. Wont save when using the OK button 4. Wont save when choosing another plant function 5. Saves correctly The order of the above appears random. This important function for Landmark needs to be fixed, has it been recognised as a Bug ? So the other option is to save plants directly through the main data base. Robert, could you outline the steps to do this please. Thanks Viper x
  5. With the default title box ISO A1 you can not seem to change what I assume is the north arrow circle when in the issue manager. How do you do it ? Thanks Viper x
  6. Thanks Katie, a list of the most effective way to instruct the architects to save their Archicad files so I can import them effectively into VW would be a great help. Viper x
  7. Did you recive the file I sent you ? I forgot to add some background to it. It was originally an Archicad drawing that was sent down to me to work on. This the first real drawing I have worked on in Vectorworks and all the drawings I am likely to be working on will be first drawn in Archicad so this serious slow down whilst working in these drawings is a worry. Someone mentioned Archicad draws with multiple lines and this might cause the very slow effect. I would really appeciate you looking at it and see if you can figure out what is going wrong or how I can get them to configure the drawing before I get it. This current drawing was just saved as a DWG which I imported into Vector works. (I added the plant details in Vector Works.) The drawing runs so slow to make it impossible to work in. Thanks Viper x
  8. How do I change the fields I want displayed in the " Plantlist-simple " that is provided in the resource browsers, I would like to remove remarks and put in height and width ? Thanks Viper x
  9. Got it ! I am a worry, it must be the heat and bush fires over here at the moment that is making me dozy Thanks for you quick reply Katie.
  10. quote: Originally posted by Katie: You should be setting a class to invisible thru the classes dialog box. Select the class and click on the white diamond in the dialog box. Make sure this class is not your current active class before doing so. Katie, I am turning off the diamond as suggested, but it is not becoming invisable. Can you explain " current active class please " as the class I am trying to turn off is the class ie plant symbols that I am currently placing on the drawing. ? Thanks for your paticence with a Vector works duffer
  11. I have created a new new class in a new layer and the plant symbol appears fine but I can't turn this class to invisible, what am I doing wrong please ? Thanks Viper x
  12. Thanks Katie, a few problems I get : 1. The drawing loads in a fragmented way, bits here and there. 2. Plants created in Archicad I think come in made up of lines rather than symbols. 3. The current drawing I imported is very slow to work in, refreshing is slow as I pan or carry out commands. 4. Should I be specifing a certain way the DWG should be saved for me in Archicad before they send it over, to stop the problems above ? Thanks Viper x
  13. Could you please tell me the tricks to successful importing of DWG into VW10 that has been originally drawn in Archicad. A simple step by step at both the saving of the original file in Archicad ready for exporting and how I should best open it in VW please. Thanks Viper x _
  14. Thanks Robert I managed to get both those functions working as you suggested. I guess examples of each Plant list size ie A4, A3, A1 etc, should be saved as templates to be accessed for later drawings. ?
  15. quote: Originally posted by Robert Anderson: The Plant List is a VectorWorks worksheet, it can be changed in size by changing the width of its columns and by changing the size of the text in its rows. --------------- Do this mean I can not just pick up the box in a corner say and drag it horizontally to resize the box to fit into an A4 size drawing for instance, as when you import the Plant List it comes in much bigger than A4 ? rather the size has to changed manually by reducing text and row width etc, ? --------------------------------------- The Scheduled Size for a specific entry in the Plant Catalog is a part of that plant definition. It is the bottom field on the left side of the Define Plant dialog box. You should enter the desired information here, then this will automatically be updated for all plants of that type. Since this data is part of the plant definition and is maintained by the plant definition, you should not manually enter this data in the plant record as the plant will overwrite it when it regenerates. --------------------- Do this mean I can not enter new data in the Object - info - data box when a plant is in a drawing already but I need to add things like scheduled size , ie it has to be done at the plant define level and can not be post entered in " Data " ? Thanks Viper x
  16. How do I manipulate the size of the plant list box in a drawing, I have managed to enter it but can't shrink it in size ? And also how do I enter data in the " Scheduled size " field in the Plant list schedule please Thanks Viper x
  17. She posts questions here regularly. I too would like a free call 1800 number for the tech help line. Hanging on long distance is not funny, nor does it make the tech line free, it makes it very expensive. [ 12-13-2002, 08:52 PM: Message edited by: Viper x ]
  18. I say this with caution as I am new to VW and I am not a computer wiz, but I must say I am dissapointed with the number of major problems I am striking in some of the main functions provided in a specific Landscape Design package. Reading these forums clearly other people with much more knowledge of VW are also striking real problems with key areas like the PRD, the Placing Plant function and the very annoying error messages which have to be hit on the head 4 times to scare it back in its box ! Of all the very smart funtions VW can do as a Landscape Designer to 2 primary tools I need to work fast and flawlessly are the PRD and Place Plant Tool and to my horror I am having to fight tooth and nail with both as are others by the messages above. Robert I am very thankful you are hear to help us in this confusion and I am sure you are hard at it trying to cure these bugs, but I am a bit concerned when you say these problems are to be addressed "in a future release" when clearly there is an immediate need for these important function to be fixed as we speak. With this in mind could the landmark problems be shuffled to the top of the list please and be addressed " in the next release ". I say again, thanks for your help.
  19. It cant be my video card as it is brand new and is said to be top end - 128mb DDR Gforce 4 Any other suggestions please ? Viper x
  20. (I have posted it here and the landmark forum as I don't know who dept is Runtime errors) ----------------------------- When trying to place plants in landmark I am getting a runtime error that crashes the program I am getting this : Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Libary Program:C\Program Files\VectorWorks 10\VectorWorks.exe This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. After I do this : Place plant > First run set up for plants > edit plant catolog > New > Object properties > Define Plant > Plant Data > choose plant > Define Plant again > I then place the the plant and bingo the runtime comes up and shuts me down. This happens in an existing document as well. I am on XP Pro with 512 ram and a 2.4 How can I stop this fast ! Thanks Viper x [ 12-12-2002, 06:06 AM: Message edited by: Viper x ]

  22. Umm... that does not sound promising as I planned to enter plant details with more than 1 given range for an attribute as well. I also purchased VW because of its ability in : 1.Plant placement. 2.A simple and extensive plant data base. I at the moment are having problems with both of the above ! I reassure myself it is due to my inexperience with VW rather than holes in the program.
