  1. Thanks for the suggestions, however were still encountering problems. In the floor plan file, I created a linked layer 'CS03' which I then unlocked and rotated 90 degrees so that it would be the correct orientation relative to the cross section. Ok so far. In the cross section file I attempted to workgroup reference the floorplan file selecting only the linked layer 'CS03'. I got the following message: "A Layer Link has Been Removed From The Referenced Layer 'CS03', As These Are Not Supported There". Any Idea what the problem might be?
  2. Our office is currently setting up its drawing files ahead of the next phase of a large scale project. The plans, sections, elevations etc. are all in separate files. We are using the 'set origin' tool to arrange them so that the gridlines are relative to each other when workgroup referencing. The problem arises when referencing a floorplan into a cross section, because it is not possible to rotate the referenced floorplan so that it is aligned correctly with the section. In Autocad this is simply a matter of rotating the x-ref plan, which would then continue to be updated in its rotated position. A solution would be greatly appreciated.
  3. we are on 9.5.3 on OSX.2.3
  4. why do lines disappear in VW at high magnification? is this problem going to be addressed? is there a way around it? the files i use are not too big help
  5. the problem is that when we export our drawings to autocad, having selected export classes as dwg layers, the result does not have any paper space component, no matter what we try to do. i am not bothered about importing from autocad to VW, so much, but it is quite important that we get it right from VW to Autocad. i dont understand what you mean when you say that multiple paper spaces result in multiple layers in VW, but if this is true, can we do it the other way around ie. multiple layers become multiple paper spaces??? however, the scale issue is the main problem. i just dont think it is possible, having tried everything, we will just have to maintain one scale per sheet.
  6. why does it happen on VW 9.5.3 with OSX.2.3 on a G4 with plenty of memory that when i zoom in close on some of my drawings the lines disappear, making it next to imposssible to edit them or work on them? the file sizes are not too large, anything from 2 to 5 megs. there has to be a way to deal with this or else the programme becomes unusable for anything more deatiled than a standard house layout.
  7. the main problem we are having is thatof scale. when we set out a sheet of detail drawing in VW we can have more than one scale on any particular sheet, eg. 1:50 and 1:5 drawings within one titleblock. however this cannot be exported to Autocad because the translation cannot cope with this. so when a drawing like this is opened in autocad , either one piece of the drawing will have changed its actual size or the two different drawings will lose their position on the page and revert to one scale. The other problem for our consultants is paper space in atuocad. is there any way that we can choose one layer in VW that translates into paper space to allow easy printing?
  8. we are on VW 9.5.3. i know Vw 10 allows the export of solid fills but that is not the most important thing for us. Is there an update to VW 10.0 yet? can hatches be imported from Autocad to VW without them breaking up into their component lines and dots? ga
  9. I am looking for advice from people who have worked with VW on large scale projects involving consultants who work on AutoCad. What is the best method of working and translating drawings and interacting between the two platforms. The main issues we have so far are paper space, hatches, different scale drawings on one sheet esported to dwg etc. This is really a huge problem for us and any help would be appreciated.
  10. is it possible when printing sheets using the plug-in 'print sheets' to set it up so that the grey print box is sheet specific and doesnt have to remain in the same place for all sheets concerned? if not is there any tool which will allow batch plotting of this sort across more than one file? is there a script out there which will allow this sort of thing? thanks

  12. We need to export large numbers of files to our consultants as Autocad drawings. The problem is that our titleblocks which are drawn using solid white backgrounds to obscure unnecessary parts of the drawing are not coming through as solid. they just disappear making the resulting dwg illegible for our consultants. we are on VW 9.5.3 and OS X.2.3 I know that solids are not exported properly but has anyone got any suggestions. much appreciated
