  1. Katie, The printer is no longer connected to a MAC at all. We use a peer to peer PC network now. I guess I need to clarify my earlier point - I know that the printer can work with VW, because it did before - but now it won't. We all use XP Pro & the printer is connected to one computer which is shared across our network 5 computers.
  2. It would be good if there was a way to delete duplicate lines. Sometimes this happens incidently when using copy/paste or duplicate & there can be five copies of one item overlayed on top of each other. It can really be a nuisance.
  3. I can't seem to remember how to Edit the "DATA" for a DOOR RECORD in the Object Info Palette. I'm trying to create a Custom Door Schedule. EX: LOCATION (is listed) BUT I want to add FROM and TO into the Palette!
  4. is it possible to see more of the file name when you have the document minimized. Our drawings names all begin with their project numbers, so when I have several files open, but minimized, it's difficult to decipher which file is which because all I see is the project number. EX: 02.13 ... Just wondering if that can be adjusted to see more of the name?
  5. No, I couldn't ungroup it - I tried, to see if that's what happened, but it's not! The file was brought into the latest version of VW from a MAC to a PC, could something have happened there? On the MAC, they still have there structural info & I put them in a "Structural Grid" Class- however, if I say ACTIVE ONLY for that class, they disappear & I can't seem to fine their true identity.
  6. Have you ever heard of Structural Shapes magically converting into "Polylines" instead of their original shape? All of the data about the I-beam has been lost, but it still looks like an I-beam shape. If so, why did it happen & how can you fix it?

  8. Is there an easy way to import a ".xls" document into VW 10.5 & keep the formatting in proper order?
  9. Is it possible for two or three people to work on the same file in Vectorworks? (using 10.5) [ie, different people working on one different sheets, in the same file?] We have a peer to peer network, I've not done much research on the issue, so I'm just wondering if it can be done. Also, where may I find a list of traveling Vectorworks Support/Training people? We'd like to have someone come to our office.
  10. Using VW 10.5, Windows XP Pro & have an HP 500 ps. I do Page Setup for Arch D 24x36. However, when I go into Page - Set Print Area, the size is "One Page" and it's 23.5 x 35.65 (or something similar), if I change "One Page" to "ARCH D" it wants to print on three pages. This doesn't happen when we use our Macs. What do I need to do to make the VW Print Frame actually be 24"x36" w/o having this cropping occur? Thanks!

When you are setting up classes to have their colors and lineweights, if you click edit- you can click on the color box and it highlights the color that is used for that class (because there are quite a few reds, but it's hard to tell which red it is). I thought this happened in the Attributes Palette as well. The reason this is an issue, is because when we import files, we often need to change the lineweights of selected objects/lines. It would be easy to make a custom selection based on the color of that line, but we can't easily tell exactly which color is being used.
  12. In VW10, Mac platform our Classes are set up w/ Lineweights and Colors. When you click on the "color box" in the Attributes Palette, nothing is highlighted to indicate what the color of the line is. We didn't seem to have this problem in previous versions of VW. Is there something that can be done to fix this??? Please let us know, thanks!
  13. Using VW 10 Architect for Mac Is there a way to import my EXCEL Finish Schedule into VW so it looks exactly the same way it does in Excel? (i.e., borders, grid lines, columns and row widths accurate) When I copy & paste, it seems to lose most of its formatting.

  15. Is there a way to import an AutoCAD site survey into VW at the right scale? When importing, I choose the scale I want the layers to be in, however when I dimension them on the computer, they're not scaling properly. Ex: A Lot which should be 20' wide, dimensions at 1'-10 1/2". If I print it out -it scales accurately, but it doesn't in VW. I know I can scale the entire drawing up, but it just seems like this is an extra step, which shouldn't need to be done. Suggestions appreciated!

    I understand that I can change the info in the object info window. My problem lays in how the information was brought into the database, i.e. NOT in chronological order or anything resembling order. EX: Doors are numbered like this: First Floor D1.1, D1.2, D1.3 Lower Level D0.1, D0.2, D0.3 While I realize this is not a "standard" numbering sequence, it does have logic and would be nice if I could get these in the order they should be. In addition to this, there are also several rows which contain partial information (such as a door size) and should not even be included in the database. I can't even tell where it's coming from. When I do a custom selection for Door Record, only the doors are selected, as they should be, BUT the database is adding rows I don't want and would like to remove. So, I'm hoping there is a way to edit the database. Please let me know.
  18. I'm using VW 10. My drawing uses the 'simple door 2' symbol & I've attached the door record info in the Object Info palette. Then I created a worksheet & imported the door record information- it shows up, but not the way I want it to and if I try to click on an item to change it, it highlights everything (Database sub-rows, according to the manual). Is there a way to edit these sub-rows individually w/o losing everything? If not, are there any suggestions for a better way of creating a Door Schedule in VW? Thanks!
  19. We have VW-Viewer installed on our computer as well as VW 9. If you open a drawing, it automatically opens in Viewer, how can this be changed so the actual CAD program opens instead??? Thanks.
  20. We're using VW 9.5.1. Our resource palette is missing the 'Interactive Command Buttons' located at the right side of the palette. Therefore, we are not able to put our worksheets in the drawings as graphic obejcts. Any idea on what may have happened to them????????? Thanks

  22. The printer is also not printing patterns correctly. It just prints some 'random' pattern which is large and blotchy & looks nothing like it should. Just figured I'd add that info too.
  23. We are using OS 9.x. The lines may or may not have a common weight or layer, class..... I don't think that's the problem being that it printed before and now it doesn't. It's not a paper size issue either. For example, in a section, a column will just be missing from the print. It has the same attributes as all of the other columns, but for some reason it doesn't print.
  24. We're currently using an Epson Stylus 1520 to print 11x17 VW drawings. Recently, several lines in our drawings are missing when we print them out- however, very visible on the screen. It seems the problem began shortly after installing VW9, but has also afflicted our 8 filles, too. Is there a bug in 9 that you're aware of? Print driver issue? Any suggestions?? Thanks.
  25. Is there a way to save a VW9 file as a pdf file? It would be more efficient to send out our dwgs to be printed in this format (as opposed to eps). Thank you.
