  1. this is a real dumb question, since i am a total weakling in vectorcrit, but how do i make a macro to display the name of a object?

i have named several objects in the data tab of the info pallette and want to create a text block - say 10 pt. Arial Narrow w/ the name of the object.

  2. e.g. i sometimes have a dim. where the number fills the full length of the dim. line and i want to add a trailer [which i know how to do] but want the trailer to appear BELOW the dim. line, rather than off to the side. I can just type some text and place it there but it'd be better if the trailer could wrap underneath - that way if i move the dimension or cut and paste it i don't need to select two items.

  3. Is there any way to change the Mac OS 10 shortcut key of opt.command D?

Since it had always been "duplicate array" in VW for the longest time i often find my OS10 dock locked into place and i constantly have to go to system preferences to unlock the "automatically hide and show dock"

  4. I always get an error output message when attempting to use the window plug-in object. It also happens with any window plug-ins pasted form other documents [created in VW 10.5 on OS9.2.2] - I can't edit them and if I move them out of the wall they disappear - although there info still shows in the Info pallette until i hit the delete key.

I don't have this problem w/ the simple or complex window objects.

    I'm using VW10.5 on a Powerbook G-4 running OS 10.2.6

  5. Does anyone know of a font for the Mac that will display properly PC fractional fonts in VectorWorks?

e.g. when i import .dwg files that have a fractional font they appear as 1#16 instead of 1/16. In the original AutoCad file the fractions would appear properly and in a stacked rather that side-by-side format.

If I had the correct font would i be able to import them w/ the proper formatting or would i still need to do some kind of workaround? [Confused]

  7. The updater does not give me a option or browser to specify the location. it just says it will install to the hard drive. When I tell it to install the whole process is very fast - maybe 20 secs. - and it tells me the installation was complete , but of course , it still doesn't work.

  8. Vectorworks 10 is in a folder named Vectorworks 10. This folder is in a folder called CAD and is in the Apllications folder on the top layer of the hard drive.

Please note when i run the updater from 10 to 10.0.1

it automatically changes the name of the folder but nothing else.

Perhaps my VectorWorks app is nested in too deep for the installer?

  9. I downloaded VWA 10.0.1 and ran the installer. It said it completed the installation and told me to change the name of the directory [although the installer already renamed the folder] but after I restarted and when I looked at the get info about the application it said it is still VWA 10.0.0.

I really want to update to 10.1 but until this is resolved i can't because the 10.1 updater can't find the 10.0.1 that was supposedly updated.

I'm on a Mac G4 Powerbook running OS 9.2.2 and have Carbon Lib 1.6 installed.

  10. It should be possible to make a plug-in for drawing corrugated metal or metal decking. I'd imagine it'd be similar to the insulation tool, where one could control the depth and length, it'd also be necessary to control the repeat and possily the shape. Ideally once the profile is set it could also be converted to a polyline for purposes of extrusion for #-d drawings.

  11. Robert,

Thanks or the prompt response. i was able to get the view plug-in to work - i just had to restart my computer.

I still think the way of 8.5 was easier this does involve one more step. Sorry about my tirade I do appreciate the efforts of your people and still parise you product.

  12. I can't seem to get the global plug-in to work for show ceiling view or show floor view. They do appear in my menu after I set them up from the workspace editor - but when I go to the menu to use it nothing changes.

Assuming I CAN get the show ceiling view plug-in to work, this means every time I send out to plot my service bureau has to not ony change the saved sheet but also install the plug-in into their workspace and go into the menu to globally change the view and then remember to switch it back to show floor view when finished. Am I correct? If so, this is a ridiculous and UNACCEPTABLE "update"

Why can't I set up RCP's the way we did in 8.5? It was much easier to set the saved sheet w/ the sills class turned off.

Please tell me there is an easier way - and hopefully one that doesn't involve having to create symbols from my door objects w/ multiple classes - It should work easily - like it did in 8.5. I made the jump to 9 recently and I do like many of the improved tools and additional features as well the additional keyboard commands I can set up; but it is pesky issues like this that make us lose productivity for some fundamental uses. confused.gif" border="0
