  1. I am creating a set of photomontages in Photoshop and in VW overlaying Terrain 5 data, what would be the best process to setup accurate viewports from the GPS coordinates of the photomontages? I want it to show the Terran 5 data from the exact point the photo was taken. Regards, Jonny
  2. Benson, thanks for your advice. The second option you have provided is exactly what I want to do. Have tried the steps you suggested and I can get up to step 8 however when I try and shell solid the solid intersection, it just locks the solid intersection. When I unlock the solid intersection, the shell solid tool still doesn't seem to work - because it isn't changing the name of the solid to a Shell Solid I guess. I can get to tool to work on an extruded rectangle. Any suggestions as to why?
  3. Hi, I'm using Vectorworks 2017 Landmark and Renderworks on Mac OS X El Capitan, running on 4 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015 model. I have created a site model and want to output a orbit animation. I've selected the model, gone through the orbit animation dialog box (Create animation) previewed it in Vectorworks and saved the movie. The problem occurs when saving the movie...it seems to 'go through the motions' showing each frame it renders, but when it's finished the result .mov file is 0kb and doesn't work? Is there something we are doing wrong here or is it a glitch with the vwx 2017 software? There seems to be no other 'save as' file type for animation other that .mov? Cheers Jonny
  4. Hi, Could you talk us through the process of georeferencing my site model an then opening it in Google Earth at the right location. Do the co-orinates of the model apply to its centre? How do I work out what the relative levels are? Cheers
  5. Hi, Sorry for the slow response. Thank you for that advise Alan, very useful but not quite what I was after. These aren't specific objects but rather just 3D shapes that represent a block of houses. Cheers
  6. Hi All, On my digital terrain model, I have draped areas from my 2D plan and want to extrude these surfaces so they follow the landform. So far I have only been able to send the 2D polygon to the surface and then extrude it from there. Is there anyway of showing a 3D shape that has a constant height that matches the contours? Any help would be much appreciated.
  7. Hi Alan, Thanks for your suggestion. I have managed to apply the image as a texture but the scale of the image is too small. When I click on the model and then click the render tab, all the options (including the scale bar) appear briefly (less than a second) and then disappear to leave me with only the sketch and texture option. Do you know a reason for this? Cheers
  8. Hi All, I’m a year out landscape architect. I have a 3D mesh digital terrain model created in vectorworks from OS contour data. What I would like to do is drape an image over that landform, for example the 1:25,000 OS map or a google earth image. I have tried to add the image as a texture as well as draping the bitmap over the landform, neither of which has worked. Is there something I’m missing here. Are there any image file types that I should be using? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
