i have been using rotate plan tool....and saving a view of an elevation......i have then made additions to the file drawing but on returning to the save view the additions to the model are not updated in the saved view......is there a check box or is the saved view not meant to update......thanks

hi jim i have just tried to export to pdf the same file that i have had problems with and this time its worked....i'll try the same file tomorrow and send you my findings phil

hi jim only tried the export to pdf......it just won't let me get that far in the export the error message appears on the export form VW 15

Anyone had this show up when exporting a drawing to pdf from V15 (there was an error opening this document...the file is damaged and could not be opened) i have opened a V14 file in 15 and this happened when i tried to export to PDF i went back to the V14 file and the file exported to pdf ok! i did create a new file in V15 and tried to export to pdf and this file was fine thanks phil

just checked the model in 2014 and its fine but in 15 the lines appear as if the anti-aliasing is turned of but i have checked this option in the preference box

just opened a 2014 model in 2015 with the above switched on but the lines seems very jagged in the model, anyone else had this problem? phil

well took the plunge yesterday and upgraded to 15 love the 3d views in open GL makes the visualisation process a lot clearer.....the movement around the interface seems so much smoother, and the new distort tool will make life a lot easier.....still a lot to go through but looking good so far

Morning I am working presently working in V14 stupidly I did not reniew my vss which meant I would have got a free upgrade. However reading a few of the forum comments and the work I undertake I am still undecided if I should upgrade... I do have to produce plans for construction but my line of work is events and exhibitions so 3 d modelling is 80% of my workflow.....I do use renderworks sometimes but still find it time consuming applying textures and decals as against my current render program....i see that there are a few more 3d tools being added every release so that's great..... But I just need tipping over the edge to make the upgrade step.....would it be to late to renew my vss I think it expired March 14 so I can get the update FOC....or do I have to make the pay the upgrade purchase price.... Still kicking myself at letting the vss expire but still that's in the past What major benefits from all you V15 guys do you think will benefit my kind of work Thanks

Thanks, that works but I would have thought it would have made more sense that a symbol would automatically change scale without having to change a setting......on creation must be a good reason !

i think when creating the symbol you have to chose world based at source i don't think you can change it after if you didn't choose this option when creating the symbol

thanks jim i have tried inserting on "world-based" that but then the symbols decrease in size on the same layer to half the size......

i have just increased the scale on my layer plan from 1:200 to 1:50 it has symbols on the drawing but they do not scale from the original scale to the new scale but everything else does......i have all apply to all layers checked any ideas thanks phil

Thanks for that sound advice....I do have a thunderbolt 27inch screen that I run as my second screen for my 27 inch iMac that I intend to use with the new machine, and for my backups a AirPort Time Capsule... As clearly you have a great knowledge of hardware do you think I would be better to source the older machine or purchase the new Mac Pro Many thanks Phil

i am thinking of upgrading my computer to 3.5GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5 processor 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 ECC memory Dual AMD FirePro D500 with 3GB GDDR5 VRAM each 256GB PCIe-based flash storage1 At present i am running VW14 and wanted to make sure that this will run ok on the above.....i use vw to build my models that are rendered in artlantis 5 any advice will be appreciated many thanks
