Hi Jim,
Thanks for your time. I have installed the drivers both from the downloaded VW Installer and again from the Sentinel Website. The current driver I have installed is Sentinel Runtime Version 6.64.1.44877
This was the driver I got from the website recommended to me by OzCAD
I will attempt the Administrator attack now!

Hi Team,
I have been battling this issue since the release of 2015 here in Australia. I'm hoping someone out there smarter than me has hit this issue and overcome it.
On initial release I installed VW2015 on the system listed in my signature. The machine has VW2014 still installed on it in case that's a factor. After installation I routinely rebooted the machine and on trying to start up I get ‘A Vectorworks Dongle could not be found. Make sure that the dongle is connected and all required drivers are installed. Vectorworks will now quit.’
I have spoken with our Distributor here in Australia and they assured me my dongle is the correct series and that the only known issue was the shortcut from the windows menu failing. I hadn't used that shortcut anyway, but I thought Id mention it here. We also un-installed and reinstalled the ''correct'' drivers for the HASP dongles.
OzCAD had me wait for the Service Pack 1 in hopes that that would fix it, today hat service pack was released and after installation I'm still in the same position.
I have now installed this on three machines, using three different dongles (We have four)and I arrive at the same issue. I'm concerned that I don't see the community boards swimming with people in my position, Id almost feel better if they were.
If anyone has any help on this, or more questions for me, please respond, I'm really stumped here. Thanks gang!

Hi Again Team,
So I got through the installation and now I cant run the program. I get the;
"A Vectorworks dongle could not be found. Make sure that the dongle is connected and that all required drivers have been installed. Vectorworks will now quit"
Message. I have now tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. I have tried it on multiple machines with different dongles and every one of them fails Ive also tried unistalling and reinstalling the dongle drivers manually. Im speaking with OZCAD but so far no one has found an answer.
I am running VW 2014 on the same machine perfectly so I doubt theres any hardware issues.
Does anyone have any helpful things I could try?

Hi Guys,
I have just read through the discussion, I as having the same issue on a windows machine, manually typing the serial number not copying and pasting has solved this for me. Good luck team!

Hey Team,
I have attached a simple drawing containing 3 lights on a truss upright. I have read back through this string and my head hurts. I'm not a lighting guy, but I have to be a jack of all trades. I have the issue I'm sure you've all encountered where in top/plan with lighting legends on, they all stack on top of each other which isn't helpful at all.
Ideally I would like a front view of this truss with the labels attached so someone could build this from a plan. I have played with the create view and model plot but again, I'm so lost. Could anyone play with my drawing and recreate something that makes sense and re-post it here for me to reverse engineer? Thanks so much for all of your time.

Thanks Grant, Has anyone successfully utilised a lug-in to accomplish this? Also, is there any more cost effective programs that can be utilised purely for UV mapping? I don't really need everything that C4D can offer, Id only be mapping a texture and pushing it out to the other software anyway. Is there a free interim anyone has had success with?

Hey Team!
We are a production company that uses a product called Coolux for projection mapping and warping. They have created a video pre visualisation software called venue site and Id really like to be able to send models from Vectorworks to this program to be able to map video content on to the geometry in my drawing.
I've just started discovering about UV mapping and its all a little new to me. Id like to hear what you guys might know about all of this.
At a glance it seems that UV mapping isn't supported by Vectorworks, it seems I would need to export my model to a third software program to add the UV information then send that into the Venue Site software.
Guys, I'm a little lost, can anyone help me out?

Thanks so much Guys!
I may have really dodged a bullet there, This is why forums rock! Ill do some more homework.... Legends!

Hi Guys,
I have been tasked with upgrading our main Vectorworks machine's Graphics card for pushing out renders. It is a Intel Xeon 2,67GHz CPU with 6GB Ram running Windows 7 Professional. I will be increasing the RAM to 16GB. I have heard that non-professional Gaming Graphics cards yield the best results when dealing with renders. Could I get your opinions on what might be the best way to go? Thanks team!

Hey Guys,
I have a strange one. Attached are two pictures of mirrored projection screens. The second of which shows the text for the lens information mirrored. The first is on my drawing layer, in which the lens info is repeated but is in the correct orientation, the second is a view port of exactly the same area of the drawing. Only in the view port is the text for the lens information mirrored. Very odd, any help guys?

Hey Guys,
I would like to know if there is any way to use the mirror tool in a way that does not create a mirrored version of a symbol, but a straight copy. I am mirroring plasma screens across a room and the on-screen image is reversed as one would imagine.
I would like the mirroring to apply to the rotation as normal but not flip the image or the logo on the screen etc.
If anyone knows a toggle, or another tool that achieves the same result that would be extremely helpful. Thanks heaps!

Hey Gang,
I am looking to find the geometry/symbol for Wave Wall
I have found several renders through google so take a look, any info would be great. We use these a lot and I currently have my own version which Im not very happy with. If anyone knows the original author of these or has any insight on how to go about this I would be very appreciative. Thanks gang.

Yay! So I opened VW in Administrator mode and went to both the Video screen and VS-4 Projector and changed the lens text to true, I also adjusted the text size and while I was there changed many of the default settings to the things we use more regularly such as rigged height, default screen image and the sizes. This has been a wonderful learning day. Thanks everyone!

That's perfect James!
Exactly what I was looking for. I would like to turn that on by default so no one can ever forget to put it in. Thanks so much for that.

Hello Again Gang,
I have a new one. Management have asked me to come up with a way that a projector might list its lens selection as a label in 2D plan. By this I mean something along the lines of a lighting label to be attached to the 2D symbol of the projector. This is something we annotate on EVERY drawing and it would be great if I could make something auto-update. Any clues?
-
Thanks again Andrew, Your amazing!
As for the lenses, there wasn't any lenses missing but what I have done as far as culling the list and making the lenses projector specific is more about eliminating the opportunity for a design to be drawn up and submitted only to find that the lens selected in the drawing and what we have physically available differ.
This as well as the lens shift fix is an exercise in fool proofing for our account managers that are really under the pump. Thank you all so much for your input on this.

So it totally was the administrator thing, Thanks so much ChadL and I was able to make it work on my machine.
I work in an office with four other VW users and when I updated the "projector models" file with our projector models I just have each of them change out their file with the new one and voila.
I updated the lens list like we discussed inside of the "projector models" file and shared them around, only they didn't get the lens update. Its likely I'm looking at this all wrong, are the plug-in editor changes I made localised to just my computer? or are those changes saved within the file.
If it is localised, is there a way of sharing that aside from re typing it on everyone's computer?
Thanks Heaps Guys!

Hey Gang,
Just a quick one. is there any way to have the textures tab in the resource browser minimized by default? When I open any favourite folder I get a massive amount of textures displayed before any real symbols. I ALWAYS minimize that tab as soon as I begin but if I could save that as a default it would save me a quarter of a second per page. I know I know, but thanks in advance.

Hello Andrew,
Here is the specs for our projectors, Like I said it would be handy to see the shift percentage to see whether or not what's in the drawing will be achievable on site. Thanks heaps.
-
Hey Andrew,
I have just followed the above post regarding creating custom lens lists. I edited the choices within the PJLens (Which wasn't #46 for me, it was in the fifties)after entering my lens list and removing those that we don't own I press ok, ok, ok but when I place a projector I still get the full unedited list. If I go straight back into the same choices menu none of what I have entered remain, I have the whole list again. Am I missing a simple save button or something of the like?
Thanks for your time.

Hello Andrew,
One quick thing I'd love for you to add to the wishlist.
Currently when using the L/R Shift you must enter the physical distance and the horizontal shift? is shown below. We would also love to be able to see horizontal shift as a percentage of the screen surface as all of our projectors tell us what the maximum percentage of shift is for that particular model, this would help heaps with pre-production. Thanks heaps.

Hey Guys,
So Ive had a new product introduced to us that allows sharing of our beautiful custom models without the threat of losing IP. Does anyone have much experience with CADFaster? Its a plug-in tool that allows the export of a standalone .exe file model.
This does not help with collaboration in the way we have discussed but it does allow clients who are not CAD savvy to be impressed with the detail we put into show without the risk of theft of our IP.
If anyone out there can break one of those open and steal its goodies please let me know.
2015 Windows Dongle Issue
in General Discussion
Posted
OK, Status Update.... I have tried running VW2015 in Administrator mode, no luck. Overnight OzCAD suggested to me that I try running the Dongle driver installer in administrator mode, and just for the record, that didn't change anything either.
Without sounding facetious I have 2014 running correctly on this machine that would lead me to believe that the driver is not really the issue, that said I'm happy to try ANYTHING that might help me out. Thanks so much!
