Thank you. That fixed it.

Does anyone know how to adjust bubble size? The "box" selection that we normally used normally looks fine with the box nicely proportioned to the text size. Although sometimes the box is small, just barely enclosing the text. Any ideas on what affects this or how to control it?
Thanks,
Ed

That worked. Thank you! Textures are looking much better now.

Can you also tell me where VW stores the images used for textures? I'd like to open some of them with an image editor (e.g. Photoshop) and make them a little lighter.

Oh yes. And then within Tiles I can choose Lines 1 and Lines 2 - I don't yet know what the difference is. I'll play with that and try to adjust the settings to result in thin lines with little or no color.
My other current need to to get a similar line-based texture for shingle / shake siding. I'm still using an image-based texture for that and it's especially muddy when photocopied in B&W. Any ideas for this?
Thanks

Are there Renderworks textures that appear as simple horizontal lines to represent something like bevelled siding? Can one be created using the Bump settings? Our image-based textures get kinda muddy looking when photocopied in black & white. I've seen renderings from ArchiCad that show nice crisp horizontal lines for siding in elevation or perspective views. I'm told these are textures. Any thoughts?

My stake objects are are showing elevations to the nearest thousandth of an inch. Does anyone know how to get these to round off to the nearest inch or tenth of a foot?

I assume you know that you can double-click on any Keynote Callout and a window pops up with the text of that note, where you can edit.

Okay. Quartz Imaging it is. I don't know what that is but that worked. Thank you!

When I work in 2013 the opacity button in the attributes palette is always grayed out. I've tried several different files. (It still works fine for me when I open 2010). Any ideas? Is there some preference setting that turns this off?
Thanks

I was afraid the axis Z might be determined by some complex method as Joe seems to be describing. My experiences with individual roof faces has not be nearly so neat and predictable as the Create Roof command seems to suggest. I've been checking by cutting sections from the model and sometimes drafting a 2D section to double-check. If I ever find some simple rule to easily predict how high my roof will be based on axis Z I'll post it here.

I think that's helping. I see that the Create Roof command automatically places the axis at the inside face of wall and the axis Z automatically equals the height of the walls selected while making the roof. My convention has been to place the axis at the outside face of framing. I think if I keep it at the inside then I can just enter an axis ht. equal to my wall ht. We almost always create individual roof faces since we don't do very many hip roofs.
Thank you!

I would expect a roof face axis to be located either at the top surface or bottom surface of the roof face. It seems to be somewhere in between. Can anyone help me understand this geometry? I'd like to be able to set the axis Z in relation to wall height but I can never quite tell where the axis is. Is it a function of roof thickness?, or slope?, or something else?
Thanks

My default setting is Absolute Path. I've tried switching to Relative Path but the problem still persists. One of the 2009 commenters on this topic suggested it might be a Mac OS issue since remote drives can go to sleep or otherwise become temporarily invisible to other computers. But I also doubt this could be related. Our server is also one of our workstations so that machine is in nearly constant use. Thanks for thinking about this issue. Perhaps I should ask NNA.

Every time I open a file, it will require me to "manually locate the broken reference" even though the reference files have not been moved. My files are stored on a separate server within our office. The problem does not happen when all the files are on my own machine. I reviewed a discussion about this from 2009 and did not see any resolution. Has anyone learned anything about this issue since then?

Thanks. I'm now keeping the Navigation Palette open. I'll see how that affects my work flow.

It's actually weirder than that. I just edited a saved view and the new layer that I added got saved but two other layers also got turned on - layers that I previously had on and later turned off and they successfully stayed off until this edit. My work-around is to turn on (or off) layers through the Organization Dialogue and then save a new Saved View with the same name and overwrite the previous one. I keep the view names short to keep this easy. Bit I'd love to know how to fix the glitch.

Thanks for the reminder on that. I am in the habit of reselecting the sheet after each change and have certainly been doing that.

Has anyone had the experience of editing a saved view (turning on or off a layer for example) and then clicking OK to close the Saved View dialogue box but the changes do not get saved. I had a persistent problem with this several years ago. I don't recall how it got resolved. It's happening again. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I experienced frequent crashes (several per day) after upgrading to 2011 in July. The problem was resolved (finally, last month) with a better video card. A Nemetchek web page explains that versions newer than 2008 place much higher demands on the video card and warned particularly about my original video card (Nvidia GeForce 7300). In September one person at VW Tech Support said this was a problem with Windows computers but Macs should not be affected but the new card has resolved my problem. It still crashes ocassionally but only VW- not the overall system freeze-up that was previously occurring. My Mac Pro is several years old and had only 256 MB of VRAM. I found a used card with 512. There does not seem to be any new ones available for machines this old. We have 2012 on hand but have not loaded it.

Great. Thank you! That was the concept I was missing. I'm back in control of my wall lines.

After a decade of using VW I am suddenly unable to control the display of Wall Lines at doors. The Wall LInes check box in the OIP does not work for me. The only way I can get the lines to disappear is to change their line weight to zero in Part Line Styles within the Settings dialogue. Isn't there some way to get these lines to appear in an RCP but disappear in plan view?

Yes, it's working although our we typically use a symbol for out title block and the stamp does update inside out title clock symbol. Is there some way to make this happen?
-
Oh. That's so simple. I was exploring custom scripts previously discussed on the Forum. Now I don't need to know how to edit scripts. Thank you!

For some reason your stair settings dialogue box looks different than ours does in 2014, but I notice that your "Show Top Rail" setting is checked on. Will that check box help? Alternately, in our version we can assign a class to the railings so perhaps you could assign a class that gets turned off.
