4. Ability to add custom corner mullion profiles
5. Ability to show wall as glass panels (i.e. no mullions) while able to add side, top and bottom mullions
Edit:
5 partially covered by 2

See attached....

Accessing and using the align and distribute commands is too convoluted at present. (too many clicks?)
Why not add drop down access to this command from the toolbar, and similar in layout to Illustrator?
-
In addition to accessing in the resource browser, how about making worksheets dockable on the bottom message bar with the ability to tear off?

VW2014 demo:
Why are some labels repositionable and some not?

Are you saying Vectorworks on the Mac is becoming economically unviable?
If you follow some of the arguments in this thread to their ultimate conclusion, you would be forgiven for asking yourself this question.
-
(That's only possible if you smoke the good stuff!)
I wouldn't know so no comment
-
But since Vectorworks is so complex with so many interdependencies, we can not rebuild huge chunks of the application....
Sounds like a ground up rebuild is needed then, especially to strip out legacy code and tools.
Either that or you need to employ more engineers.
-
I agree with Jim, this is the scenario with every piece of software out there...
I'm not buying it.
Vectorworks 2012 is the buggiest software I have ever owned.
Sounds to me like a convenient way to cut ties with this version and salvage the salvageable.

And add the ability to select the dimension style in the dialogue

Not unreasonable to expect support for at least two versions back (2012)
BTW, what is so "major" about Mavericks? Apart from a few additional features it doesn't appear to be anything groundbreaking.
Can I ask, what was NVW's position when Snow Leopard was released in terms of prior version support? (that version of OSX was considered to be a major upgrade)
-
I've been waiting to see how 2014 goes before If/when I upgrade.
Considering:
Integrated graphics are not supported (mac mini specifically)
Limited OS support for prior versions (due to legacy code within VW?)
Service Pack 1 causing some instability (here we go again)
Lack of requested features in 2014
No roadmap for 64 bit
Take 64 bit for example - all of VW resources would go into it's development. The transition to 64bit will likely result in an even longer wait for some features to be added which have been repeatedly asked for.
Our studio has arranged for a sales presentation next week from another CAD package vendor. We are prepared to move to Windows. And we will be purchasing an additional 2 licences.

Good suggestions Vincent.
I wonder if NVW have paid attention to any of these suggestions?
FWIW

Carbon Copy Cloner is one I've used. A little dearer than Super Duper but I prefer the interface

Hmm ... Mountain Lion runs fine on my 17" Late '07 MB Pro (2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo), and Mavericks is running fine on our 15" Mid '07 MB Pro (2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo).
IIRC, quad core iMacs weren't introduced until 2009. Maybe your iMac is an Early '07?
Thats interesting, wonder why then I'm unable to upgrade to ML? Must be another reason then, locked EFI, firmware?
I put it down to the processor - obviously in error.
-
Macs from 2007 run Mavericks, so that point is sort of invalid.
Only if it's a quad core
My 2007 dual core iMac can only run Lion. Mountain Lion and above requires a quad core processor.

If you don't have problems then great, I simply don't advise it for users that haven't bought a machine yet.
I'm waiting for the new mini to be upgraded to the haswell Chipset which AFAIK will have the HD5000 graphics chip. Considering that Apple sell OSX with their hardware mac versions of software should include hardware and software support, no?

Had watched an excellent presentation on Landmark recently. What was immediately obvious as I was watching is the interface gymnastics a user has to perform with the OIP, resource browser etc etc.
Userface needs updating. (at least not as bad as Archicad)
+1
EDIT:
Apparently, Chief Architect are releasing a mac version next year. If this is true it would be interesting to see how they handle the interface.

Have a look at the Viewres setting or go to Options dialog box, Display tab: Arc and Circle Smoothness.
Oh, you mean in AutoCad.
You are the man, thanks as always.
-
2D conversion res is set to medium. No change on Very High.
I am back saving to 2007-2009 dxf but that shouldn't make a difference one would think.
-
Im using a trial version of Autocad LT 2014 to check the dxf created in VW.
All arcs in VW (including the door swings)are opening as straight segments in ACad. The door swings are groups but the arcs are individual elements.
-
arcs created in VW are exporting as straight segments.
Tried dxf and dwg - same result.
File is basically 2D linework.
Any pointers?

I'm giving it a week before a post a review.
any closer to posting a review?
What is the best way to key building to DTM elevation?

Simple answer:
Stories.
I set my storey to a datum level (such as Gnd, 1st etc) and refer my design layers to that storey.
you can also reference the building into the topography file...
