  1. Hi Alan The attached image shows the problem I'm having. If I change the Foreground render to say wireframe the text shows fine. Seems strange that it works for a render that can't be used for the purpose of generating working drawing, but does work a setting that is not really of much use when generating working drawings.
  2. Thanks for that Tui. That will serve as a work around for this occasion but there must be a way to complete this with one viewport. Of all the working drawings Ive seen the elevations never show hidden lines as dashed or wireframe, so it seems strange that the one usable setting of hidden line can't show the window IDs.
  3. Last image. As you can see the site shows black not red or pink.
  4. That's roughly what I am trying to achieve, all class overrides work with the exception of the site model. Have checked setting I can find for class attributes, but no matter what, in section it still shows as a black solid line.
  5. Hi there I'm hoping to create a symbol that I can drop on the design layer that simply reads the the elevation of a design layer. Doesn't necessarily have to reference the elevation of the layer it is on, just so that if I raise the elevation of a layer the symbol will also update.
  6. Tried the file in the 2014 version and also still a problem.
  7. As a another workaround, the merged cross section with structural / non-structural groups achieves 99% what I am after. You can see in the image the joinery shows the same as the site as im guessing there is some setting that make site model and joinery "non-structural". How would I designate the joinery as also being structural?
  8. The images you have attached are how I would have expected it to show, yeah must be a VW 2013 issue. Thanks again.
  9. Hi Alan. I have attached a VW file with only a site model and wall. Have also attached a couple of images showing the graphic attributes of the site model. In the VW file on the cross section VP I have done a couple of class overrides. You will be able to see the wall appears as required, however the site still shows as black even thou (from what I can see) all setting are set to pink, blue, yellow etc. Thanks in advance for any time taken to look at this.
  10. Have gone through all the dashed line settings and open GL, renderworks, custom etc, still no luck. In all other viewports, say elevations, plans etc all I would do is do a class override if I wanted to change the colour or linetype, am I missing something with the section viewports? It seems like I should just be able to do a class override on the site model or even the walls for that matter and that should work. Im not trying to show the cross section in any top end kind of presentation just a simple line drawing with no depth.
  11. Hi Alan Thanks for that but that changes everything in the section to the same style. Im also trying to avoid stacking viewports which seems to be the common work around to get the views required for various plans.
  12. Have just gone into Advanced properties>Attributes>section plane and ticked "merge cross sections & create structural and nonstructural groups", was then able to change the nonstructural class to site-model. This showed the site section as dashed and grey as I had hoped. The only downside is that the joinery and other objects now show as the same. Have tried several other combinations including ticking "separate cross sections" then ticking "use attributes of original objects", it even says in the dialog that it will use the setting of the original object, which is great... but still shows as black and solid.
  13. I have a site model which I have cut a sectional viewport through the middle. Have assigned the site model to a class. Have ensured that the attributes are set to class attributes. Have gone through the graphic attributes tab in the site model settings and applied every colour of the rainbow to the different elements of the site and also changed the colour of the site class, however in section the ground line still shows as black. Also have unticked the option that applies section-style to objects in VP. Have also made sure the Black and White only option is not selected under Display settings. Where am I going wrong... someone please help.
  14. Hi there I would like to create a symbol that simply shows Drawing Title and the Drawing Scale. I have found the Drawing Title symbol in the Tool sets however when I insert the symbol into the annotation space it appears the text is not linked. You have to enter the drawing title again as text. Also the appearance of the standard drawing title symbol is not quite what i'm after. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I have a few concept sheet layer viewports and several construction sheet layer viewports. I need the concept dimensions to show metres as doesn't need to be too accurate and the contruction sheets to be in millimeters. Ive gone through the dimension standards and the units menu in VW but not having any luck. I used VW back in 2008 and don't think it was an option then but I'm sure that has been updated since then.
  16. I have also tried closing down VW and checked not still running in task manager. Have tried opening the VAA titleblock resource but get the message that the file is in a read only state. Have check the properties and also the properties of all sub folders and read only is not ticked. Have tried the same process on a colleagues computer and get the same results.
  17. Thanks Alan That makes sense, I have just tried to export to the standard library and each time VW crashes. Have VW installed in the default location. I also created my own library and exported the symbol to this library. When I go to "choose base symbol" only the original symbols are still showing. Think I must be missing something.
  18. If I want to make a similar title block I would have assumed I could have duplicated the TB symbol in the resource browser, then make changes to the symbol, then in one of the title blocks click on "choose base symbol" and select the other symbol. However when I click on "choose base symbol" only the original VAA title blocks are showing. I did see an earlier post regarding making changes to the default library files however these seem to be write protected. I have ensured all folders, subfolders and files are not protected but still cant access. Do you have any advise?
  19. I have a design layer viewport which shows a floor, with a class override so that the floor shows as a solid white outline instead of a concrete surface. I also have a sheet layer viewport which views this viewport. In the viewport class properties I have ticked both "Use embedded design layer viewport settings for:" - Class overrides and class visibilities. I have the classes turned off in the actual sheet layer viewport as it is the design layer viewport it is showing. The floor shows as concrete, where I would have assumed it would show as a white outline. If I turn off the Class overrides and class visibilities the floor disappears so I'm guessing it's something to do with the Class overrides button that I have ticked. Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Thanks Ian Have attached title block. Have drawn a colored rectangle around offending object. You will see what happens when you change the percentage. Thanks in advance.
  21. Hi there I have an elevation of a house with the IDs shown on each window. Have gone through the Foreground Render settings and get the following results. Hidden Line: text blurry but elevation looks good Wireframe: text clear but hidden lines shown Sketch: text clear but hidden lines shown Dashed hidden line: text clear but hidden lines shown How do I get the the elevation to show correct with the text clear also? Seems strange that the only usable foreground render setting has blurry text where the other ones text shows clear. Thanks in advance
  22. One other thing, in the the title block I have revisions A, B, C, D and E all with different dates. I can see that there is a percentage that you can change to alter the space between these lines. My problem is that Line B is say 1 space above A, line C is 2 spaces above B and D is like 5 spaces above C. The gap gets exponentially larger. No matter what the percentage is set to the gaps area always all different
