  1. Question is really to Katie. What is the approx. percentage of Mac users to PC users in the world. Dare I ask, but what would a prefered machine be by Nemetschek. Ross from down under.
  2. Me to. I'm running VWA 9.5.0 and Renderworks on a P4 1.5Gb 512Mb RD Ram, 64Mb Geforce Pro Graphics card, 40Gb hard drive - printing to a Canon 6500 A3 printer. My drawings generally have Aerial font. Yes, sometimes the drawing prints with the scrunched up text to. I was thinking it was a printer problem. Katie - is difficult to send a file that has this happen to it, as it seems to right itself when you print a 2nd or 3rd time. I find that approx. 40% of print jobs has this occur and now at the stage of watching the printer for the first sheet that comes out. If it has the scrunched up fonts, I just quickly turn the printer off, cancel the print job and then just send it through again. Have found happening with newly created files as well as older ones.
  3. Thanks Mike I have been looking through the Nemetschek site and finding more info on it. Looks great and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I have seen some of the posted examples of what it can do. I currently do what they show with what I got. It must be easier to do. Some of tools certainly look like making 3D solids sooooo much easier to create.
  4. I'm a VWA / Renderwork user. Is this 3D Power Pack a new product / add on? Have just noticed the new 3D Solids Dicussion Area and wondered what you are talking about.
  5. In General, I would just like to say that 9.5 works well. Sure there is the odd thing or two, but, I do get my work done faster and better, theres lots of neat ways to do things, so I thought instead of these message boards full of negative feedback - it was about time someone said 'thanks' to The Vectorwork people.Ross from New Zealand [ 03-08-2002: Message edited by: kiwiross ]
  6. Would it be possible that Nemetschek have in the downloads section a list of of all the symbols, textures and hatches from the whole family. That is, that all the symbols, textures and hatches from - Landscape, Spotlight, Architectural, Engineering, Survey etc are kept there. We as users are the only ones who can use them, and since we paid for our particular programme, it would be nice that we could perhaps grab the odd symbol, hatch or even texture that comes with one of the other programmes. As a user in the architectural field running VWA9.5, my main area is in buildings. When putting together 3D views, it would be good to have a few other shrubs and trees to put in there as the library we have is somewhat limited. Perhaps from Spotlight there may be a few extra light sources that could jazz up a scene. I'm sure this would not upset sales of the other products, but hey, we are all related, so come on lets share a little.

    PRESS RELEASE

And such a lovely christmas pressy it is.
  8. Any chance of adding a fountain fill to a polygon. Just one way of enhancing 2D drawings.
  9. Would really love to input boundary's as Polar co-ordinates. Get sick of adding and subtracting this and that to get them in.
  10. Hi all,I am a VWA9 RW9 user. It would br good if in our versions there were a few more 3D trees and shrubs to use.Any chance of a Landmark user to forward a library from Landmark?. Would have thought Nemetschek could have provided a few more decent 3D Trees for us so as to make our buildings sit in a nicer environment. Would be appreciated.
  11. Any idea when the final 9.5 coming out on CD All we hear about is beta this, beta that. I'm really feeling like we have been ripped off since purchasing VWA9 and RW9. All the message boards have is problem after problem. 8.5 is such a reliable platform. How fast do you think the Version 10 is going to sell when that comes out.
  12. Thanks for that input JNR. I was looking at XP or Win200, and I was a bit wary about XP being so new. I will go for Win2000. Thanks to the others input. What I have found out as far as using Pentium 4 verses Athlon is that a Pentium chip allows for other programs running in the background to preform better than using Athlon. Athlon would be a little better if your machine had just VW on it. So using Pentium as a cross platform programe seems that little bit better. So thanks again to all replys (except the Mac response - haha) quote: Originally posted by jnr: Just make sure you use win2000. If history is any lesson, stay away from XP for at least 6 months. I switched from a win98 600 mhz to a 2gigahertz win2000. The program runs much faster with fewer glitches using win2k.
  13. I am to buy a new computer as my existing one is a PC running Celeron 400MHz with 384Mb RAM (at 100 MHz SDRAM) and a 16Mb video card. Harddrive runs at 5000rpm, (I think). Been OK with 8.5.2 at a push. I am looking at a Pentium 4, 1.5GHz, 256MB RAM (at 133 MHz SDRAM) and 32 MB video card, harddrive to run at 7200rpm. I will upgrade the RAM later on. My main question is, that for a computer for VW/Architect 9, would a Athlon chipset be better? I would appreciate your input as I am a single person business and this is a big purchase for me, as I am getting more and more into 3D and animations.
  14. The use of dual monitors sounds very interesting. Definately want more of the drawing on the screen and less of the tools. My question is, with not belonging to some large practice, cost is one thing. If I upgrade my video card, can I use the old video card for the second monitor, or do you need two identical video cards as I have heard. It seems logical that the second monitor which is viewing just tools and palettes does not need a real flash vidio card. And one final question. When you have two monitors, how do you access that second monitor with your mouse? - is it a keyboard shortcut. I use an optical mouse which has extra side buttons which one is able to assign other shortcuts to - perhaps just one click of the mouse puts you on the second monitor. With thanks to those who reply.
  15. Thanks for your feedback. Yes I did pick up Renderworks, in fact I now have VW8.5.2 Renderworks 8 as well as VW Architect 9.0.1 and Renderworks 9.0.1. Wow, really impressed at what can be done. Now picking up an extra 256Mb of RAM to see if that speeds things up. Clients just love finished reults. Still lots to learn with 3D.
  16. BUT - with PDF files, they are one third to one quarter of the file size of a vectorworks drawing
  17. With thanks. I have been there and found a few things of interest and have forwarded a few things of my own. Is good to have a place and share a few of our bits an pieces.
  18. With thanks, have been there and have forwarded some of my stuff and picked up a few things.
  19. Can a few people at least reply with support calling for Nemetschek to make available for us users, some further 3D symbols to make our finished plans a bit more dressed up. We spend hours creating buildings but it would nice if we had a greater choice of trees, shrubs, vehicles, textures and sky backgrounds. Am I asking to much?
  20. Like a lot of people, I have VW9 / Architect and Renderworks9. The libraries containing site stuff are somewhat limited with trees. I know that most of us in the architectural field do not and can not afford to go full on by getting Landmark. Would it be possible for Nemetschek to post a download with say about 30 to 50 other trees in it. Would allow us without green thumbs be able to make our 3D models just a little more interesting with the backgrounds. Also to have 3 or 4 others like Vehicles having say 5 to 10 other vehicles. Surely by having additional 3D symbols available like this, it can only make Vector / Renderworks look so much better to the clients and public that we work for. Am I asking to much?
  21. I think you will have to install VW8, so when you install the new stuff, it automatically realizes you are a valid user, then it installs itself complete with the new serial numbers. Then uninstall VW8. Give that a try
  22. Colman Email me at abernethyr@xtra.co.nz with your email address and I'll send you a VW drawing with 20 or 30 people (and a dog) on it for you Ross Abernethy
  23. you to huh. The promise of things to come is good. I to have gone back to 8.5 etc. The upgarde wont be far away now.
