  1. I'm laughing out loud....I know exactly how you feel with site model work, so exciting, frustrating and scary all at the same time. I am so paranoid now, since having some horrid start again experiences with site models, that now I update model after every site modifier is added to my model. This way, if the model does not update, error message comes up then I just edit, undo. And either delete and start that modifier again or go POP the kettle on and have a think. I guess you will find your own way, like us all. Shame there is not a good comprehensive site modelling help guide on VSS or so..... keep cool calm and plod on. )
  2. Of course every snippet of information is useful, however I am talking about all the rules relating to this subject, collected together for all users to appreciate. Di you get my reason?
  3. okydoke, will see what I find out and send on Tamsin, Hmmm.....thanks!
  4. Dear Training topic requests team, Can you please publish the rules for all the Site model modifiers and how do they 'react' and 'interact with the model', 'each other' and 'other elements' of VW 2013. They must be written down somewhere, or else how were they programmed. What about the technical spec, maybe something can be pulled out of there and published on VW help 2013 application or added to the VSS resources?? How can we have a chance to create good sound models if we don't have the rules by which to work, then something goes wrong and we dont have the information to fault find or so? I feel like I am trying to make a cake with piles of ingredients, no scales and no temperature gauge on the oven. Thank you!

  6. Anyone got any ideas about why the below happens time and time again, 'user interface problem' maybe? ) ) ) I have created a hardscape from polyline or so, click on Hardscape settings from OIP. Fill it in as normal, get to the DRAW 3D part of the pop up and change the default of NONE to BY CLASS in DRAW 3D, MAIN TEXTURE. ok good so far.... I exit the box by clicking OK and the texture has not been picked up. So go back in Hardscape setting on OIP and the MAIN TEXTURE in DRAW 3D has gone back to NONE. I change it again and this time it sticks to BY CLASS and the hardscape has the texture as planned. Every single Hardscape I have created to date does this. I have learnt now to go back in a second time to change it, but its really aggravating..... Any ideas why? Am I doing something stupid? Pls say yes and I can change the habit.
  7. Thanks Tamsin and Ray for your help. Where are you programming coders are out there? What are the rules please for all the Site modelling modifiers and how do they 'react' and 'interact with the model', 'each other' and 'other elements' of VW 2013. They must be written down somewhere, or else how were they programmed. What about the technical spec, maybe something can be pulled out of there and published on VW help 2013 application. or added to the VSS resources?? I feel like I am trying to make a cake with piles of ingredients, no scales and no temperature gauge on the oven. Come on Nemetschek!
  8. Thanks everyone in this string for your advise. How did I solve it, well......over the last days, thinking about how to tackle the problem. One by one I deleted them, updating the model, trying again and again...... then I didn't have any left to intersect. Not ideal, and lots of time wasted and back to square one, to start again. Yes please Nemetschek, can we have a bit more of clue to tell us where the problem is when a problem occurs, not just tell us that there is a problem, its just soul destroying...... :-(
  9. Does anyone know the rules of overlapping site model modifiers? It's these sort of rules that are sprinkled around the VW online help, but don't seem to be in one place to make life easy. For example, I found this: "Grade limits can overlap, but cannot completely enclose, another grade limit area". Does anyone have the full list relating to all the site modifiers that exist in site modelling? Maybe the developers of you out there....? Thanks everso.
  10. I have been deleting the site modifiers one by one and updating the model, and am now down to one site modifier and that is the site model itself. And still when I update the model it says that there are two intersecting pads...... (
  11. Have been scrutinising my file, checking and checking again, running scripts, making active, hiding some classes, and it goes on and on and still when I update my model, it says I have 2 intersecting pads. There must be an easier way to find out which ones are causing the problem, any ideas? Thank you.
  12. Hi, can anyone point me in the right direction. I got a 2d polygon and want to make it 3D and then lay it over the site model in the same file. Can anyone help me with the right steps? thanks!
  13. Hi All, Just downloaded VW2011 and was wondering what the effect of the watermarks will be. VW2009 had a banner across the border when printing. There was no watermark, is that across the body of the drawing? Also I see that somone said about symbols and resourses created in 2009 (say) and used across new versions of VW would carry the virus. So am I right in saying that all the resources and library symbols I create whilst being a student will no longer be valid once I've moved to non student version? Someone tell me this can't be true..... Susan BSc Garden Design student(UK)
