JWE
Has anyone used Mini-CAD / VW to export to a CNC router? We have just taken delivery of a Masterwood for use in machining custom architectural millwork in wood. We have a program called CADCODE that will take a DXF file and turn in in to G-code machine language. We use it to make cabinet boxes from a program called Cabnetware. It does not make windows and doors that we manufacture however. In a prliminary test the it appears that you have to set up a layer for each machining layer. The file I imported into MINI CAD had 15 layers- one for each operation. Horiz rout, drill 5mm hole, vert rout etc. The CADCODE people recommend Auto CAD but I would hate like hell to switch. Any knowledge out would be a big help. Thanx Quote Link to comment
tjon
I believe most cnc's read each layer in a DXF file as a different different tool on the machine. Each layer contains the 3D info the machine requires to complete an operation with a specific tool. Quote Link to comment
