Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted June 2, 2014 Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 2, 2014 I mentioned HDRI backgrounds/ HDR lighting in an earlier post , if any other users come across the thread, this rendering project I'm working on now (for an unrelated purpose) will give you an idea of how dramatic an effect it can have on your model in exchange for very little work: [img:center]https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=10708&filename=Without-HDR.png[/img] [img:center]https://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=10707&filename=With-HDR.png[/img] The only change between the two images was the addition of a freely available HDR background (also attached to this post). None of the other rendering settings, textures or geometry was altered between the two shots. Quote Link to comment
Vectorworks, Inc Employee PVA - Admin Posted June 2, 2014 Author Vectorworks, Inc Employee Share Posted June 2, 2014 (edited) On a related note, it is now possible to upload HDR files to the forums. This file format was not permitted before, I have changed it so that it is now permitted. Anything I come across during this project that I feel would benefit users working with HDR lighting, I will post here. (Eventually it will probably be made into a kbase article if there is enough relevant content.) 3D HDR file viewer for Mac and Windows: (Free) http://www.lizardq.de/viewer/ The HDR packs that this HDR image came from originally were made freely available on deviantART by user zbyg: http://zbyg.deviantart.com/gallery/6278123/Resources# More freely usable HDRs can be found here as well: http://resources.maxwellrender.com/news_scripts.php?t=4 Edited June 4, 2014 by JimW Quote Link to comment
