Editing plug-in (elevation benchmark)

I would like to be able to change the elevation benchmark symbol slightly (add "crosshairs" extending outside the circle). Is there any way to do this? Or do I just need to fake it by drawing lines over my benchmark.

Can I create a symbol myself with editable text?

We are experiencing difficulty editing benchmarks in the OIP. Some data fields are grayed, not allowing that information to be customized....

There are two strategies to do this:

1) You can use the "Ungroup" command in the Organize menu to convert the Plug-in to its primitives (lines, text, etc.) These you can edit and then you can regroup the components.

2) You can link text in a symbol to a record which will allow you to have a single notation symbol that changes based on text you enter on the Data pane of the Info Palette. Look in your manual index under "Linking text to record formats" for more information.
