Luke Brown
this is probably pretty easy. How do I snap to the center point of an arc? vw 9.0.1win 2000 Quote Link to comment
Sean Flaherty
Luke, If you mean the center point along the arc, use the snap to distance constraint (set to 50%) to find this point. You'll get an "Along Line" hint at the center. If you want the center of the circle included by the arc sweep, the arc must be set to have fill and the snap to objects constraints will snap to it with a "Center" hint. canarch
correct me if i'm wrong but in previous releases of VW i don't think the arc required a fill in order to snap to it's center point. why do we have to fill the arc in order to find the center point now in 9.5? alistair Originally posted by SeanFlaherty:[QB]Luke,If you want the center of the circle included by the arc sweep, the arc must be set to have fill and the snap to objects constraints will snap to it with a "Center" hint. Matthew Giampapa
Yes, this is a change in behavior from 8.5.2 and 9.X. It is actually being considered a bug. The reason is that in version 9, the bounding box for the arc is determined by the end points of the arc, rather than surrounding the entire arc. Since the center point is not within the bounding box, the smart cursor can not snap to this point. We now have this recorded as bug #24870. If you wish to inquire about this later please use that number as a reference. Matthew GiampapaTechnical Support Quote Link to comment
