Steel shape lengths

Unless I'm mistaken, all the steel shapes tools in the VWArchitect Detailing tool set are 2D only. It would be really useful if they could be extruded i.e. given lengths. The Joist and Framing Member tools in the same tool set have this ability.

As a work around, you can Convert to Group, then extrude.

Someone (Islandmon?) recommended generating the 2d shapes as Nurbs for greater efficiency.

A sort of related question: You have a vertical element that is extruded higher than one story e.g. a flue pipe. Is there a way that each floor plan would show it cut in plan? That would seem logical.

I'm pretty sure there isn't--but before I submit it to the Wish List I thought I would double-check.

I would place multi-story objects on their own layer and then turn the layer on in the viewports where relevant.

Layers can be co-spatial.
