scaling hatches

Question

Is there an option to scale hatches along with the drawing scale? for example, when I draw a connection detail with wood in scale 1:5, and I've changed my mind and want it scale 1:10. What happens now is that my perfectly alligned hatch on scale 1:5 doesn't fit anymore at scale 1:10.

There are two kinds of hatch patterns. They are selected in the "Edit Hatch" window, as "Page" units or "World" units.

The "Page" units hatch always has the same line spacing on the print-out. So you can use this for material symbols in cross section, for example. If you set the hatch to print with a 3 mm spacing, it will print with that spacing on the paper at any scale.

The "World" units hatch has line spacing in the units of the real-world thing being modelled. So you can use this for the spacing of brick mortar joints in elevation, for example. If you set it for joints spaced at 7 cm, then the joints will print 7 cm on center, to whatever scale is being used.

There are also two ways of applying hatches.

If you apply a hatch using the Attributes palette or the Resource Browser, then it will be associative. It will change shape as the boundary object changes shape, and it will adjust, on the basis of "Page" or "World" units, when the layer scale is changed.

If you apply a hatch using the Hatch pull-down command, then you will simply create a Group of lines. Once it's created, it will not be associated with the boundary object, and it will not be associated with the Hatch facility any longer. It will Scale (re-size) and change layer scale the same as any other group of lines would.
