Best technique for creating importable files for vectorworks

Hello,

 

I'm currently exploring different techniques for creating importable files for Vectorworks and would appreciate your insights and expertise on this matter. Specifically, I'm interested in understanding the pros and cons of using Python scripts, VectorScripts, and IFC files for generating content that can be imported into Vectorworks.

 

The context of my question is that I'm asked to create something like the following wardrobe designer that can store the design into a database and generate an import file that can be imported into Vectorworks.

Personally I lean towards generating a Vectorscript. From what I understand I'll be able to create scripts that can be imported. When importing the script, Vectorworks will run the script that will then draw all the needed content.

 

From what I read about Python is that it's more ment for creating plugins.

 

And IFC is a document specification and I think I'll be more able to create something solid with Vectorscript precedures compared to IFC's basic text that I'll need to concat into a complete document.

 

Also the documentation of Vectorscript seems more accessible.

 

What are your thoughts and insights on this?
