2d polygon option

Question

I was tracing over a topo map with a 2d polygon tool and was wondering if there can be an option for me to have my vertices at user-defined intervals. Maybe this option could be incorporated into the freehand tool instead?

A nurbs curve will allow this, however 3d polys cannot have different z heights for various vertices.

The z height is for the entire line.

If you think about the way contour lines are created -- a person takes a reading at a certain z height or elevation. They follow this point in a shape and write down the x and y coordinates for each instance that z height or elevation hits. This is why you often get circles and oval like objects for ponds and mountains, lines and curved lines for slopes and inclines in the land.

One way you could use nurbs to create a topo (Although it would be alot of work) would be to use a nurbs surface representing the surface of the topo. Then use the 3d reshape tool to change the z height of various vertices either individually or in a row or column.

You cannot move vertices in the shape of an oval or circle at this time without selecting the individual vertices and changing them. This is because the nurbs surface is a grid like object with vertical and horizontal u and v vertices.
