  1. Has anyone noticed the following:

If you create an extrusion from a polyline then try to split the extrusion using the split tool, it doesnt work.

If you go in to the edit mode of the extrusion and convert the polyline to a polygon, you can then exit and split the extrusion with the split tool.

It appears extrusion created from polylines cant be split.

Is it supposed to be like this?

  2. When you have a sectional viewport say cutting through a beam, if i want to move that beam up 500mm I have to double click on the viewport and go to the design layer where the beam exists then find that beam in top/plan view under roofs etc and then move it using the "move 3D selection".

If you view it from left/right/front/back etc the beam is hidden by the walls.

From memory in ArchiCAD you can view something in section and still be able to edit the objects.

  3. Is the following a bug?

I create a polygon (none class)

Then create floor object from polygon

    Assign "Floor" class to floor.

All the floor objects fills, pen colours etc are set to "class style"

Change "Floor" class pen attributes to blue and solid line and tick "use at creation"

The outline of my floor looks blue solid line.

I know create a viewport of the design layer containg the floor object.

I select the viewport and do a class override on the "floor" class. Change to red line dashed. click OK.

    The floor is unchanged.

I then go back to the floor object, double click on the floor object to get to the edit mode. select the polygon and assign the same class as the floor object ("Floor" class).

I return to the viewport and appears red dashed.

Why does the embedded object not take on the class attributes of the container object in viewports?

  4. I had a look at the examples above and dont see how I can achieve the same.

In the example it appears that there are two extruded squares of the same size, one hovering over the other, then there is a smaller extruded square hovering in between.

I tried to replicate the example in a new file but when I use the loft tool and hover over the extrusions no option comes up for me to click on the extrusions.

    What am I missing?

  5. Hi Hugues

Yeah I created the record format and worksheet in another file (same version), then imported into a new file.

The original worksheet only had the "ground floor" and "first floor" info in the databse, then after import I copied the "first floor" cells pasted in a new set of cells and changed the "criteria" from Layer>Mod First to Mod second.

It was some time after this that I noticed the problem.

To fix I deleteed the bottom 15 rows approx and then just re-entered the equations.

Hope that is of some use to you, let me know if you require any further info.

  6. With my earlier jobs I used sheet layers, but as soon as you have a design layer viewport I started getting odd problems like objects disappearing or object info showing in OIP but no highlight indicating object selections, Also the viewport heirachy can become complicated when using overrides.

I also find the annotation mode cumbersome since the sheet layers need to be at 1:1

  7. Below is an extract from the VW2008 help menu re:Loft surfaces

    Creating a Loft Surface

The Loft Surface tool creates complex NURBS surface(s) from two or more cross sections with no rail, with a rail and one or more cross sections, or with two rails and one cross section. A rail is a guide curve which determines the shape of the resulting surfaces, in the one rail mode. In Birail Sweep mode, the rails do not need to intersect the cross sections.

What is meant by cross sections

  8. This is a problem I hate, dont know if Im the only one.

I have big worksheets that reference record formats and layers etc.

As soon as I change the name of a layer or a record format or class etc, the worksheet $#!%$ the bed, you know longer have the ability to change the "set criteria" you have to manually change the equation line for every instance where a name change has happened.

I would like it if I could change the name of a layer and the link would still remain within the worksheets etc

  9. Hi can someone please have a look at this worksheet and tell me why it is doing what it is.

All exterior walls are in a Record Format "Exterior Walls"

The worksheet is broken in to 3 areas (Ground First and Second)

and references the Exterior Wall Record Format for each level.

  10. Cool thanks everyone

Have just been experimenting with the "IF" command and I am getting funny results.

Have just tried the equation in cell C17:

    =IF(B17=0,0,B17)

    In words:

=IF(B17 is 0 then show "0" in cell C17, if its not 0 then show the value from B17.

Once I hit return the cell says "False"

When I go back to the cell to change the equation line the equation line simply says:

    =C17=0

Can someone explain whats going on?

  11. If you have a worksheet with values in Column A and values in Column B then an equation in Column C (Column A / Column B) the values in Column C dont work if there is a zero value in Column A or B.

    For Example:

    Column A Column B Column C

    10 2 (A/B) = (10/2) = 5

    20 0 (A/B) = (20/0) = #DIV 0!

    30 4 (A/B) = (30/4) = 7.5

    Total =sum(A1..A3) = 5

In the total Row the result should be 5+0+7.5=12.5

But since one value in Column B is 0 sum stops adding at second row

  12. Does anybody else notice this:

Sometimes when I log on, at the top right of the screen it says "welcome CS1. [Log out]:)". Which indicates that im logged in.

But when I view the list of posts there are no magnifying glasses next to my "watched posts", and no red text indicating new posts or replies.

I can close and after awhile re-enter and its back to normal.
