  1. For instance a polyline fill or hatch obscures text: I want the text in front of or on top of the hatch so it will be visible (from above,in plan view). Normally I'd give an appropriate Z but I don't think I'm allowed to do that, or am I, somehow?
  2. Thank you. I have been struggling with getting just that functionality (word choice?).
  3. Thanks so much. I should have seen that.
  4. Are swings at all configurable, e.g., half open for hinged, bi-fold or sliders?
  5. Well, you helped a bunch with that further explication. Thanks. Now I'll try to get the diff between dupe (in place) and paste in place.
  6. Thanks, Pat. That also clears up my being unable to figure the funcional difference between the normally semantically identical 'copy' and 'duplicate.'
  7. Will try to work that approach as time allows. Many thanks.
  8. Thanks again. It's the hunting and pecking looking for newly loaded plug-ins that looks to be tedious, and then of course the figuring of where to put them. Seems they should go somewhere by default, as specified by the writer.
  9. Ctrl D, V of compound objects seems quite buggy; single objects work fine. Compound, e.g., walls with doors, are displaced contrary to 0 offset setting and remain in the clipboard after they should have been replaced, and may come with/replaced by random text clips.
  10. I have a survey imported as an image file, assigned a class and a layer which ostensibly places it below my floor plan layer as a background over which the floor plan 'floats.' But some of the floor plan is obscured by the supposedly underlying survey. Perhaps there are some conceptual gaps in this scenario which I hope someone will comment on, not to mention how to correct it. The fact that VW doesn't treat the image as a 3d object may be consistent with the unexpected behavior described above. Is there a way to get it considered a 3d object (not delta z, surely)? Thank you.
  11. Thanks, mon. And the easiest (or only?) way to load one time is to map them to the workspace (which looks like a mouthful, given the vast nested hierarchies and choices)? Is there a quick way to get them into the workspace? When you say manipulate them via the tool palettes you mean invoke them there, rather than configure them? Does the real configuration, the placement of the plug-in in the particular tool palette, for instance, have to be accomplished in the workspace editor?
  12. VectorScript editor confirms that plug-ins I have added are being installed but I am unsure of how to access them. Do I have to map them to the workspace for access and/or is this generally done automatically as a part of the script? The icons presumably distinguish among the types of plug-ins in the editor(Help says "The three types of plug-ins ? menu commands (.vsm), tools (.vst), and objects (.vso) ? allow scripts to integrate into both workspace menus and tool palettes, as well as other VectorWorks features such as the Resource Browser.") Tips appreciated.
  13. I would have said 'vastly improved' from the bare bones minimal material that is available but that would sound less objective. I'm a new user and find help to be of use, but not sufficient. Questions go unanswered here at the forum that otherwise might be simply responded to with advice to check the manual, which is ultimately what should be possible. Reference files should ship/download with the software and be routinely updated online.
  14. I see there are known probs with VW 12 on machines with more RAM than mine has. Failure to export 'current view' to jpg (even with compression maxed) comes with an insufficient memory note; pdf export results in blank page. On the jpg export spec page, checking export 'visible objects' results in a relatively small image size below on that page indicating it is a smaller view than 'current view' even though 'current view' is tipped as being exactly the same as is on the screen. Contrary to the preceeding info the export 'current view' results in a larger image (the unzoomed image) rather than what is visible on the screen.
  15. I'm very much not up to speed on the use and operation of viewports, but trying. I have a survey drawing at a different rotation than orthogonal which I want to align and import much of into my arch dwgs. I created a rotated viewport to align it and after working ignorantly throught the scale probs got things looking OK, but when I try to crop some uneeded stuff out prior to import I keep selecting the viewport. Perhaps this just is not an appropriate way to go but up to now I have not had the problem of VP picking being problematic.
  16. A place to check early on; enhancing cred of software developers; saving users' time and grief. If there is such a thing, please advise. On a related front: Is there a compiled wish list anywhere where users' may go to check if what they want to do is cannot be done as they find it listed in the wish-list, e.g., move/copy point to point? Thank you.
  17. OK, thanks all for confirming and tipping to possible work-about. I will research stair 'reset' and fix association script. One always hopes that bugs are posted prominently so as to enhance the cred of software sellers and save buyers much time and grief, etc.. If there is a known bugs list that is reasonably complete, please post its location. Thanks.
  18. See thread "stairs object not workin correctly." My clipboard is faulty at the moment also.
  19. I never linked them; they have different settings, rotations, locations...I pick one to delete it, one pick is shown, but three stairs are deleted. Undo brings back 3 picked objects. Ungroup explodes back to treads, risers, etc., rather than to 3 separate objects...???
  20. In my VW 12.52, that doesn't work...the second pick is the wall rather than the second symbol. Maybe you have 2008?
  21. I'll look for the p to p. Thanks. Copy in place didn't work for me; I will try dupe...after all, the option setting is for'dupe.' Maybe that is my problem: copy is not dupe by any other name.
  22. After the first correct pick, it seems the wall is picked rather than the intended symbol. Is there a work around? Use: I've got existing walls to be renovated; plumbing fixtures need a class change from plumbing-fixtures to plumbing-fixtures-demolish. Must I pich and change them individually? Thanks.
  23. Yes, thanks, that would help. Seems very basic to perform many such operations from point to point. I see now also at least the paste in place ctrl-alt-V.
