  1. Thanks Peter, I tried that before I posted but it did not seem to work. Is there some other a trick to it?
  2. Thanks, Katie, for the quick response. I thought that might be the answer.
  3. I am trying to convert 2D polygons to 3D Contours with the 2D Polys to 3D Contours command. The problem I am having is that when I initiate the command and the set elevation dialong box appears, the command chooses all the polygons on the layer, thus making it impossible to assign contour values in sequence. The polygons representing contours were converted from Autocad polylines. I have the polygons in a clean seperate file with the active only layer option chosen. The manual says that when the elevation dialog box opens... "the first polygon in the drawing order is highlighed". Based on this clue, I have tried copying the polygons in order to another layer, to no avail. (It does work if I draw new polygons in sequence. But the documentation makes it seem that you can use this command on imported data.) Any suggestions?
  4. Billtheia: I am a new VW user and have been following your questions and the responses. This has saved me the trouble of posting the same questions. I also hope someone responds to your questions re. handrails.
  5. I discovered what I was doing wrong. I had the line tool in constain mode. Once I turned that off the tangent/tangent cue shows up. Thanks to everyone who responded. I am learning Vectorworks and the support on this forum has been great! In my humble opinion VW 2008 is great too. Moving from autocad, I have been repeatedly thrilled by what VW can do.
  6. The files "Archtiect Eval 01-06" in an introductory tutorial on the NNA web site have a stair symbol in them that has the nosing at the down side of the landing, that is, the nosing is there untill you try to edit it in the stair edit dialog, then the nosing goes away in plan.
  7. Katie: I tried your latest suggestions. Still no tangent/tangent cue at the second circle. I noticed one more detail that may be a clue. When I click on the first circle and the movable tangent line appears, I do not get the single "tangent" cue as illustrated in the manual.
  8. Robert and Katie: I only have the Constrain Tangent constraint on. I tried reseting the VW Preferences and then increasing the snap radius. I tried several settings for SR. Anything 30 and over seems to act like an angle constraint and the object/tangent cue shows up but not tangent/tnagent cue. When I click the object/tangent cue the line does not jump to the tangent of the second circle but is placed where I click. With the SR set to 25 or less the only cue I get at the second circle is the object cue. It must be some silly thing I am doing wrong, but I do not know what.
  9. Layer and class are the same for both circles. I select line tool and Constrain Tangent, I choose the first circle and it attaches a moving tangent line, but no matter how I move the curser around the second circle the Tangent/Tangent cue does not show up.
  10. Using VW 2008, Constrain Tangent, trying to draw a line tangent to two circles. The Tangent/Tangent cue does not appear on the second circle. Any clues?
  11. Katie: That is what I see if I just draw a streight run. The lack of a nosing at the edge of the landing shows up on a platform L or a platform U. I did some playing around and discovered that although the nosing (at the edge of the landing on the down side) is missing in the stair dialog, plan and 3D, and on the design layer plan view, it shows up in a 3D view on a design layer and in the active section. What gives?
  12. Thanks Katie, I have tried that option. Trouble is, it draws all the dashed nosing recesses on the strair treads but not on the down/riser edge of the landings. Any suggestions?
  13. Does anyone know if the stair tool will draw the dashed stair nosings at the landings? I have not been able to get it to do this. I saw a sample drawing file on the Nemetschek web site where it the dashed stair nosings were drawn at the landing.
  14. Thanks Quigley and Travis, I will try your suggestions. I had not thought of extruding the wall horizontally. Thanks again.
  15. How do you draw battered or sloped walls in Vectorworks Architect 12.5? 2008? Is it possible to draw battered or sloped walls with the wall tool and insert hybrid windows and doors in 12.5? 2008?
