I would love to know the answer to this also. I, too, use a template set and am always struggling with issue data when issuing a new set of drawings - old issue information seems to show up no matter what I do.

Where has that tool been all my life?
I didn't even know it was there. Worked like a charm.
Still, would rather wall cleanup be more straightforward and able to handle more complex (and common) conditions.
For now, though, looks like the Pillar command will be my solution of choice.
Thanks, Bob.

I thought it should too but I have yet to see any improvement.
-
Hmmm. You DID get it to work. I can't get it to work in VW2012. I wonder if something has changed since VW2009 (the version that it appears you are using.)
-
Thanks, Ion. With your help, I got it to work. I would never have thought to use an L-join between two collinear walls. It took some gymnastics, though. I got the 4-way intersection to work but then an intersection at the other end of one of those walls broke. I fixed that and then one of the original 4-way walls broke. I was able to fix that and now everything is clean. I still think that the whole thing doesn't work very well. Wall clean-up seems to operate based on some set of rules that just doesn't make any sense to me.
Starling, your example only looks like it worked. If you turn on line thickness, you'll see that one of the walls isn't cleaned up.
-
I know that L-joins won't work. Your suggestion won't work, DWorks because the top and left walls are thicker than the bottom and right walls - I wind up with gaps or overhanging lines.
I tried L-joining the top and left walls and then T-joining the bottom and right walls to those. The result is pictured above.
-
We keep hearing about how great VW BIM is but it STILL can't handle wall clean-up properly.
A very typical condition is to have a 4-way intersection of walls with differing thicknesses. No matter what I do, I can't get it to clean-up all four intersections. At least one is always not cleaned up.
WTF?
How hard can this be?
Am I doing something wrong?
See attached pic.

Christian, could you use two separate DLVPs? One for elevations (with glazing texture overridden) and one for other views?
I know that it's a total workaround but it might still save you time in the long run.
-
You don't see though the texture that I make for exterior elevations. You would see, though, through the default clear glazing texture. That's why I created the elevation texture.
-
I often override glass attributes in rendered elevation viewports so that I don't see through the windows. I use a separate glass texture that is dark gray and not transparent.
Would that work?

Thanks for the update, Greg.
I submitted a support request via Service Select and the support person reported back that they had submitted the problem to engineering.
I too hope that a fix come soon.

I've just stumbled on to this problem. Did you ever find a solution?
See my recent post here:

When I use the "Box" bubble style with callouts in VW2012, the text won't center in the box. I've tried it in a new blank file and in old drawings with the same result.
If I use no text margin, the text appears to be centered but it kicks off center as soon as I add some margin.
When I open files created in previous versions of VW (that had the text centered) the text is off center too.
Am I missing something? Can someone out there help me with this?

You don't need to ungroup the door. Just turn off auto-classing.
-
Got it. Thanks.
It seems odd to me that we have to separately add the 3d hole component but copying the extrude from my symbol and pasting it in as the 3d hole component worked like a charm.
-
Did you do anything special to create the 3d wall hole component? I created an extrude, tuned it into a symbol and inserted it into the wall.
-
I'm trying to create a custom door opening that has two small curved elements in the corners. I have created an extrude of the profile I'm looking for and inserted this into the wall as a symbol. Unfortunately, VW doesn't follow my profile, it cuts across the curved element.
My short term solution has been to add a small solid to fill the gap but I'd really like to do this the "right" way.
Can someone out there help me?

This setting seems to make no difference.
-
Turn down the brightness on your monitor. Or, better yet, calibrate your monitor.
-
No, you're right. You need to use Section VPs for interior elevations. Elevation VPs only work for the exterior of a model.
-
For me, the problem still exists when I use wall styles.
-
It seems like VW2012 is drawing and extra line at window and door jambs and I can't seem to get rid of them.
If I create a SLVP and override the line color of walls, windows & doors, a black line remains at jambs. See attached pic and vwx file.
My engineer has also had trouble with these lines in my DWG exports.
Has anyone else out there experienced this? Can someone help me?
Thanks.

Glad that I could help.
How to cut a sink into a countertop.

I just turn the counter off in the cabinet PIO and then create a separate counter top using the floor tool. The floor object is as easy to modify and cut holes in as a simple polygon.
