  1. Hi Pat,

Could be, that I'm overseeing something simple again, but I tried with

Locked Profiles as well, but the results were still not what I expected

I did it now with the Example of James, and attached the Result.

The beginning and the end look fine, but the midsection seems still turned.

And there is also a Problem where the 2nd and the 3rd section join.

  2. Hallo James,

I had a similar effect recently when I used the Extrude Along Path for a relatively Complex Shape of a Guardrail/Handrail.

My only way to solve the Problem, was to cut the Path in Sections,

extrude the Sections independently with copies of the Profile, and then cut them in the Corners, where they meet.

Somehow like you would built it. :-)

  3. Hi jeremy, I missundertstood, and answered to this part of your Post.

Additionally, the floor slab was drawn as an extrude that become a solid subtraction when I cut a portion out of it. The applied texture for the solid subtraction disappeared?

    Pardon.

For the texture Problem "mike m oz" recnetly posted this solution:

Convert your Solid Subtraction to a Nurbs (Modify menu). It will actually be a Group of Nurbs Surfaces. If you then enter the Group you will be able to select and apply an individual texture to each of the surfaces.

  4. Jeremy,

I recently fought with the effect that you have with your slab, and after a while I dicovered, that I somehow accidently had duplicated the Slab in exactly the same position.

When I clicked on the object, I cought the rendered one, showing the Texture in the render tab, but when I rendered the untexured Slab was shown.

  5. Hi,

If I have to do all this Photometric Calcualtions, for Architectural Lighting Projects,

I use DIALux to do the calculations and the Paperwork.

The Software works with .ies .ldt and other Lighing Data Files supplied by the manufacturers of Architectural Lighting Fixtures.

The Workflow to do do the Construction of the Space with VW, export the Projekt as .dwg, and import the Projekt to DIALux works fine (for me).

And DIALux Is made for these Kind of Calculations, and it's free.

I know this is not exactly whats discussed in this thread, but may be it is a good workarround for the Problem.

  6. I guess StaticDOS wants to see the Section lines,

in the viewports in Top/plan view, to visualise,

the Position of the sections generated by the Section Viewport(s)

I also tried a a couple of times to get them displayed in Top/Plan-Viewports on

Sheet layers, as they are diplayed on the Design Layer in top Plan View, without

I ended up in drawing a Line on Top of the Section Line Marker in the Design layer,

and Added text inthe Annotions of the Viewport...

  7. Hallo Leila,

I did some small edits on your File.

You already had a Viewport on a sheet layer. so I just copied it a couple of times and gave the Copies different Views and Render settings.

You could also add some Section Vewports if you like.

I'm not so shure, about the Render possibilities of Fundamentals, but The Line Render modes and Open GL should be part of your Sofware. (hopefully)

During editting I've recogniced, that your Extrudes had no fills. and that you were using open polylines for the 2d Profiles of the Extrudes

The Problem with open Polygons is, that you can't give them a fill, so when you render these object in Open GL there are just Lines, like in Wireframe, and the surfaces, are not shown.

I've modfied these open Polylines to closed Polygons using the Compose Command.

    Enjoy.

  8. @Ulli:

The Plugin is now distributed with the C4d Updater.

I don't know if it is available for C4d11.

The Plugin for Version for VW2010 is Part of the R11.53 update, and can be found in the Exchange Plugins folder of C4d 11.5. well hidden waiting to be used....

My first check with my current Workfile it seems to be Ok.

The Major difference to previous Plugins seems to be that Camera's can't be exported to C4d anymore.

The field to select the Camera Export is gone, and if they are not switched of in the drawing VW2010 will crash during the export.

After I switched of the Camera Class the export went well and, for the first impression, very fast.

    @The Claw

You have to Copy the Cinema4D_Export_VW2010_US.dll and .qtr to the

plugin Folder in the Programm Folder of your VW2010 directory.

I'm sorry that I can't describe that better, because I'm using OSX on Mac...

Then you have to start VW2010 and Edit your current Workspace

The "Edit Workspace" process is well discribed in the VW Help section.

Cinema_4d_export is listed as a new a Menu Command in the Workspace Editor when you start VW2010 after you draged the Files to the plugin folder.

  9. Hallo,

There is a description in the Help System of C4d.

A description of the installation is also part of the download for the VW2009 plugin from the Maxon Website

    http://www.maxon.net/de/downloads/updates-co/updates/plugins.html

Even though the plugin is new for VW2010, the installation process is somehow the same, as it was for VW2009.

    1. unzip the plugin file

    2. move the export-...-.dll and the -...-.qtr File to your VW 2010 plugin folder

    3. integrate the export_c4d command in your current VW2010 Workspace

  10. Hallo

There is a File with Rock Symbols in the VW2010 Landmark Library.

When I read your Post, I remembered, that I once upon a time found a kind of plugin that creates Rock objects as dxf Files.

    It's still there!

    http://www.laffeycomputer.com/macrock.html

And it is a perfect App for this time of the year, because you have to search a bit to find the egg. :-)

It Runs on PPC Macs and I've tested now with OSX 10.5.8 under Rosetta.

    have fun

  11. Hallo,

I've used trackballs since 2001, but the latest Logitech product haven't made that happy. The latest Trackball Optical has a wireless connection which interferes with other wireless devices or mobile phones ??? or whatever makes the connection unstable. ---> unusable

So I recently bought a Bamboo Fun Pen&Touch medium.

    I love that device.

For the normal office work (word-excel-entourage) I use the Multitouch option like an my macbook, and for drawing in Vectorworks the Pen works amazing fluid, precise and fast.

The size of the Tablet is perfect for my the 2 Screen setup of my Desktop,

and I draw much faster and much more natural than before.

  12. Classe are like stacked Sheets of tranparent Paper.

You can switch them on-off or grey them in the navigation Palette.

Your Class called none with tick by it ist the active Class,

which means that everythink you draw is on that Class.

Left from the tick you can klick to switch classes to ivisible.

But it will only become invisible when it is not active=the one wiht the tick.

I would like to suggest, that you go through some of the Videotutorials

to see the Basic Concepts of Layers and Classes in VW.

I think this gives you much faster overview than a lot of text.

    May this helps:

  13. Create a new Class call it like Hole_object_that_i_dont_want_to_see_anymore

Put the Symbol on this Class by selcting it and place it on the new Class

    through the Object info Palette.

Then set the previously created Class that contains the Hole Object to invisible

    in the Naviagtion Palette.

Make shure, that the Class with the Hole Object is not the active one!

    that should do it.

    There are other methods too.

I attach a File that was created during the other discussion.

May be someone who reads this has a smarter idea, that doesn't produce the render problem which is caused by the segmentation ...

  14. Hi,

    M5d is perfectly right.

I recieved a mail from Maxon about this today also.

It was Part of the R11.53 update, and can be found in the Exchange Plugins folder of C4d 11.5. well hidden waiting to be used....

My first check with my current Workfile it seems to be Ok.

The Major difference seems to be that Camera's can't be exported to C4d anymore.

The field to select the Camera Export is gone, and if they are not switched of in the drawing VW2010 will crash while exporting

After I switched of the Camera Class the export went well and, for the first impression, very fast.

  15. HI,

I tried arround a little bit with the existing C4d plugin and VW 2010 today, but I got anoying results.

Even if I export VW2010 Files to VW2009 and try to export my Designs from there, I get random crashes of VW2009 while exporting.

There seems to be some issue with the Export Function of VW2010 to VW 2009 also.

If I open an old File with VW 2009 and export to C4d everythink goes well.

If I open the same old VW File in 2010 and export it back to VW2009 the Export to C4d crashes....

Are there other people out there in the Forum fighting with the same Problems?

Does anybody have an idea if there will be a (Functioning) Exprot plugin for C4d in the near Future?

  16. The Problem is, that the Basic Polygon of the Solid Sustraction representing the Wall has already approx. 120 Verticies.

Thats the reason for the segmentation

I think, you can use the curved Wall tool to get a good result.

The other option is, to redraw the basic Polygon with just a few Verticies.

I'm not shure, if there is a Tool to reduce the Verticies of Polygons, as you can do with

    the rebuild Nurbs tool.

May be the Cracks in this Folum have smater solutions. :-)

  17. Hi.

Your macbeth File is basically Ok.

Which VW Version are you using?

I get a Piracy note when opening it...???

Your Problem seems to be the Smbol File.

When you Import the Prolyte dwg you have to check the scale

that you get the Symbols in the correct dims.

The Truss Symbol you had in your File was is only a 2d Symbol.

This also needs to be set when you import the dwg.

The H30 VW Library is too big to be posted
