  1. Thanks for the help.

    I wasnt looking in Window>Script palettes....found them.

It appears that when you create one for the first time it does not appear by default.

I created a 2nd one at that appeared, found Script Palettes and there was the first one switched off.

    :-)

  2. Hi,

I have just started playing with customising and have tried to create a custom tool.

I select the attributes to apply, enter a palette name, then a tool name.

Say OK to all and expect to see the dialog/window to appear listing the tool.

I don't see it and cannot figure out how to turn it on.

The tool has been created as I repeated the process, saw the new palette name and couldn't create a tool of the same name.

I am using VW2014 and osx mavericks.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Problem just solved.

I just discovered the Plugin Manager.

Go to the Plugin manager and add whatever field you like.

I added Manufacturer and Model to replicate what is in the Irrigation Heads plugin.

Restart VW and edit the newly added object fields.

I can now report on irrigation lines and show product info.

Will still be looking at Archoncads suggestion of using a record format. This will give more flexibility to the lines.

    Thanks again for your help.

  4. I am pulling together a worksheet for irrigation materials that clearly states each product.

I can do this with irrigation heads and clearly state the product to be used for specification purposes as there are a few editable text fields.

I tried to list the objects name but discovered that this is not possible as it is a Plugin Object (red symbol).

Any help with this would be appreciated.

  5. I have been hand drawing my irrigation layouts up until now and now want to add that component to what I do in VW.

I have had a look at the tools and gone through Archoncad's tutorials however it all seems a little US centric?

Am I going to need to edit and create my own list of local commonly used products as a first step?

Any help or tips would be appreciated.

  6. Thanks Julian, I am seeing the correct behaviour now. Using the 2 creation methods the tag is being created in the same relative position. :-)

I had a go at resetting the 2D origin to coincide with the 3D one in my template however things are still amiss.

FYI, I created a locus at 0,0,0 then in 2D plan reset the 2D origin to the locus.

I have attached my template with a rectangle drawn. Using the 2 hardscape creation methods the tags are still coming out in different locations.

Maybe there is something else in the template file causing this?

Maybe I need to rebuild the template from scratch :-(

  7. When generating a hardscape from an existing shape (hardscape tag set to right) the position of the tag shows at what appears to be random positions in relation to the hardscape object.

At times these tags can be kilometers away from the site and in this case it takes considerable time to adjust each tag to a suitable position.

With the help of Aus support I have set the hardscape attribute record data using the eyedropper tool and was able to get good results when creating a hardscape by drawing it.

This however has not solved the problem when the hardscape is generated from a shape.

I have tried setting different origins and repeated this issue in a blank document, and existing project and in my template file.

I have attached an example file and set up a simple object for you to generate a hardscape from.

  8. Hi,

I am getting incredibly long tag lines when creating a hardscape from an object.

I have been suffering it for a few years but never bothered to chase down the logic.

I have tried setting the drawing origin, but there is no change.

At times I dont get the issue.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

  10. After upgrading to VW2013 I am now experiencing odd behaviour when selecting a colour.

Highlight an object (say a line) and go to change the colour (I have the colours shown as a list).

The problem I am experiencing is that you cannot select any colours in the lower part of the list. i.e. Clicking on a colour does not select and accept the change.

My workaround is to select a colour from the bottom of the top half of the list and accept. Then repeat to select the colour you want. The key is to ensure that the first colour you selected appears in the list when you slide down. This is indicating to me a dialog focus issue.

Although I am using a wacom tablet, I am experiencing it also with a regular mouse.

The behaviour does not occur when the colours are set to view as a grid.

added: I have been able to repeat the problem on a vanilla flavour macbook pro running mountain lion.

I fer it is an OS related issue.

  11. I am creating creating hardscapes via Objects From Polygon command.

Each time a hardscape is created it does not take on the attributes of the active class.

The only way I can change them to be set correctly is by selecting the Remove By Class Settings option for each object.

This has only recently started to occur so I am guessing a global setting has changed, etc.

  12. Changing a polyline to a hardscape results in the hardscape taking on the (visible) attributes of the class Hardscape-Component-Main Joint even though the fill and line colour shows in the attributes as the correct fill and line colour for it's class.

By editing the class Hardscape-Component-Main Joint to have no fill and no line colour the hardscapes return to show the correct fill colour.

Surely this is not correct behaviour?

    Thanks

    James
