layers -> modify others doesn't always work

Robert, Modify others only works when all the layers are the same scale. Not sure if you are aware of this but that seems to be the only reason I've come across that modify others doesn't respond to. -
I've been trying to generate a DTm with about 50 contours and the computer gets almost finished createing it, then it stops and says errors 9,24 have occured. So it never finished the DTM. Does anyone know what errors 9 and 24 are, and how to resolve this so I can get a DTM? Thanks
