I don't quite know how to explain this... but I have been using VW2008 and am trying out 2010. It used to be possible to drag corner point of a rectangle, for example, in order to make it larger or smaller, a very simple way to adjust objects. I can't seem to be able to do this in 2010. What am I missing??

Ihave just upgraded to a new pc and cannot use my my old ATI Radeon x1600 Pro card as it is the older AGP type. Can anyone recommend a good PCI Express grahics card for use with (currently) VW2008. I don't mind spending a bit for a good card but don't want to waste money on overkill. VW own comments in their system requirements blurb seems a bit vague.

I am running VW2008 on a pc with Windows XP Home 3, with a Pentium 4 1.8 Ghz CPU with 2Gb RAM and a Sapphire Radeon x1600 Pro graphics card. Problem: after using program for maybe 1 hr or so pc slows to crawl or stops, VW freezes and using up 90 - 100% of CPU. Sometimes after wait of poss 15 minutes things start going again and I can start work again. Clearly this is a major pain and I need to sort it. I think that this may be a graphics card problem - or is it my CPU speed? I don't want to waste my money so any help gratefully received. Thanks.

I have nearly finished a planting plan in Landmark which has a Title Block and page border. I am trying to re align my plan onthe page with the Move Page tool but it won't work! I see the move page marker but nothing happens - any advice anyone - is this because the title block is already set up maybe?

Further to the above - ok I have used some limited initiative and have created a new Symbol folder in current file called Plnts JB, and even created a sub folder called Shrubs JB, then I moved my newly created plant symbols into the new folders. Then saved the file. Trouble is when I open a new file I cannot find these new Symbol Folders?? I suspect that this is very simple, but then so am I.

Thanks for the responses. I see the point about the definition of symbols. So I suppose I should/will have to have a library of all the plants that I use, available in Resource Browser. But, and apologies in advance if this is a dumb question but I am very new to VW, how do I set up this in RB?

I know that there have been other posts around this subject but I haven't been able to glean any definite answer from them, so... When I use Place Plant Tool I pick a suitable plant symbol, edit plant definition with details of the particular plant I wish to place on my plan, than place it. All fine. But if I then want to use that same symbol for another plant of similar size/type etc, as I do, then if I choose that same symbol and edit the plant definition with new plant details then this changes all other occasions that this symbol occurs on the plan and gives then the the new plant details. What is the point of that! This means that I have to use and rename a symbol for each plant species on my plan which might be up to 200 odd plants and so 200 symbols! I cannot see the sense of this. Certainly when I have created my own plant symbols and linked text to record formats then I can use same symbol for any number of plant species. Am I missing something here - please someone tell me I am?!

Finally got round to looking at this post again. Thanks for all the responses. I have Kaspersky AV running all the time, but will do another scan for viruses - doubtful though. Updated my video drivers last week before the problem appeared. But have not upgraded to SP3 - would this really help? Did not try it bedore memory upgrade so don't know if it would haver happened before the upgrade. Will investigate Diskeeper, but already have Windows de-frag utility scheduled once a week - would fragmentation really cause the problem?

More info re this fault - It seems to only happen when I use symbols which I have created myself, existing VW symbols seem ok??

This happens when I use the Place Plant tool and try to Edit Plant Definitions. Program crashes with following message: Instruction at "0x5ad71531" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory could not be "read". Click on ok to terminate the program. Anyone come across this and have any fixes? I have just upgraded my physical RAM to 2Gb and have set my Page file at 1.5 times this at 3072Gb.

Ray. I did try to change the line weight in Edit symbol but it didn't work. Maybe I had ticked Class Attributes inadvertently or something. Thanks for your help. I will amend my signature.

Ray, I'm not the expert here I'm the questionee! But as far as I can work out, and what seems to have worked for me, is to set the Class attributes in Tools, Organisation. The when you go Edit Symbol you can tick Class attributes in the Object Info panel. This I suppose selects the default Class attibutes, which you can then individually overide - or not??

Ray, find it under Tools - Organisation - Classes Tab.

Thanks, tried this and it seems to work! Great. It is so simple when you know - but what a pity VW help dooen't help with simple questions like this.

I have used Black 2D symbols for plants in a planting plan, basically these are just circles of different diameter linked to a plant record. I want to change the line thickness to each symbol and thus all plants represented by that symbol, so I have edited and changed this in Resource Browser Edit. But the change is not being registered although I understood that any such changes reflect both past and future uses of any symbol. What am I doing wrong?

When in the Plant database I have created a new Plant List but how do I add plants to it from the master database list?. I realise that it is possible to create a planting plan and then add plants to a list that way, but I want to create a master list of possible plants first and then have this selected list from which to place plants on plan. Is this possible - I'm sure it is but cannot see how??
