  1. Just installed VW2008 Landmark on Mac OS X Powermac G5. Wanted to transfer a workspace from an Intel iMac, running VW 2008.
  2. Is there any way to save a workspace on one computer and load it onto another. Seems an obvious and useful function but I can't find anything in help. Do I have to burrow into the application folder and copy it there? Then paste it into the new computers application folder?
  3. katie I have been trying to reproduce the effect this morning to no avail, but a number of existing drawing have the problem. How do I attach file to send to you. David
  4. Looks more and more like a bug to me. With all classes visible still no line. (nb my other viewports have lines and they are visible). I notice the fact that the view port crop can be on two classes at the same time. In viewport crop edit mode it is on the class you created it in. In sheet view the view port can be moved to a new class without affecting the viewport crop edit class. I can edit the line width , type and colour in viewport crop edit. GREAT i wanted to do that. I did an experiment. I created a a number of different viewport boxes on the design layer with a number of combination of off and on classes. Well the display of the lines is quite erratic. Seems to depend on a combination of factors. Sometimes you cannot edit them sometimes you can. Sometimes no line at all in the Sheet View. Going to have to give up on understanding what controls what here. Any more tips on view ports? I have only ever been able to create one by drawing a box in the design layer and then using view>create viewport. The other method doesn't work. BTW You cannot draw a border box (or any other line) while in Viewport edit crop mode. It won't let you. David
  5. When I print a 'sheet' layer onto real paper with multiple 'viewports' some of my viewports have a visible line around them and some of them don't. It seems to depend which class I created the original box (subsequently converted to a viewport) on the design layer. This line I call the 'viewport border' and it helps organise the real world drawing. I have searched fruitlessly and still have no idea how to control it except to recreate the viewport from scratch. Surely the display of this line can be turned on and off. Its definitely not the grey printer margin and its almost the same as the crop line you mention but the crop line can be made visble in software for editing but it doesn't effect the display either on the sheet layer view or the paper print out. thanks
  6. I use 11.5 but I have never been able to work out how to turn the viewport border on or off. It appears if I create it on a class in the design layer that is on in the Sheet layer but if that class is off in the sheet layer, the view in the view port is visible but the outline/border has gone. And i cannot get it back. VW help is no good. And a search of this Message Board yielded nothing. Its seems obvious that the class should control the visibility of the viewport border not the view port itself as is done in AutoCAD. If you don't want a view port you delete it or push it outside the page boundary. Can anyone help?
  7. It wasn't a beginners question. It was a 'do I really have to make 4 clicks to do what could take 1 click' question. I have discovered the 'work arounds' ie. 1. drag to the side away from all other objects and reselect the point you want. 2. Select object/ send to front. Doesn't always work unless select other layers is off. DDdesign is right. Once an object is selected Vectorworks is told which object the smart points should be referencing. It just doesn't listen and chooses an object based on the object order. When you are using unfilled polygons or poly lines this is counterintuitive. Just wondered if there was a better way. I'll follow up the link to Vectormove. Thanks all.
  8. I have terrible trouble selecting and moving objects sometimes. It seems to be with a solid object above other solid objects (in 2 d). I can select it but VW won't let me ever get the little cross that allow me to move the object. It seems that VW will always prefer to move an unrelated background object rather than the selected one. Any tips here? I could work in 'active only class' but sometimes they are the same class and any how, ts painful to do this every time when I've clearly selected it.
  9. The default operation for the 2d mirror tool is to delete the original. Seems the wrong way round. Surely most users want to keep the original. The duplicate along path tool uses a first offset value which cannot be set (it is greyed out) It can only be set in duplicate along path object tool. Are these design errors or is that I cannot see the logic? (VW11.5 user)
  10. mar schrammeyer seems to describe my ideal set up. Maybe the problem is I am using VW11.0.2?
  11. Since I started this thread here is a summary so far. (thanks for the responses) The mightly mouse has a tiny wheel that can be rolled 360 degrees. In a spreadsheet its a useful Mac invention In a photoshop image its a great invention. In VW it could be good also but I am now prefering the spacebar+ left mouse click to pan or more accurately drag the screen. But I miss the MS Mouse wheel set to zoom in and out as used in Autocad. Zooming is too many keyboard strokes or mouse clicks in VW. I notice that in different drawing scales the scroll ball becomes more manageable. I.e. the screen moves less. Is it working in the drawing scale and not the screen size? That would be strange. But I can't work it out.Help has nothing to offer on the subject either. Well now I use the traditional pan function and try to avoid the scroll ball.
  12. I cannot seem to control the sensitivity of the Mac Mighty Mouse scroll ball. It is virtually useless as a means of scrolling and panning because it moves the display at least a screen at a time. I have set the action of the ball in MAC preferences to one line at a time and it makes no difference. I could ignore it but it is always being touched accidently and I am left with a blank screen. Any ideas folks
