  1. Hi. I'm afraid it's my turn to add to the chorus of "Sam problem here". I sent in my creds for extension of my educational version but keeping receiving the message: Vectorworks cannot be activated because your software license has expired.
  2. Peter- Thank you for your reply and I apologize for not replying back earlier. This is the first chance I've had to check the board since my original post. I am embarrassed to say I didn;t know about the Translate View tool. It does exactly what I needed. Thanks for furthering my VectorWorks education! Also thanks for the heads up about SP4. David
  3. Can I change the increments by which the ground plane is raised or lowered while viewing in Walkthrough?
  4. Howdy. Using Spotlight in VW2009 Educational, I am unable to render the fronts or backs of walls. Only the edges are rendered. Of course I have set "Part" in the object information window to Overall. No luck. Style is "un-styled". Map type is plane. My workaround is to convert the wall to mesh but I'd like to be able to keep the object as a wall. Any wisdom would be deeply appreciated. Thanks. Windows XP ver 2002 SP3 Lenovo Dual Pentium 1.60 1 GB RAM
  5. Thanks. I'll do some shopping and beef it up a little and then post the results.
  6. Am I alone in having this problem? I'm currently running VW12.0 on the same machine and having no similar issues. I'd really like to start using VW2009. Help!!! Again, no problems on my laptop. Can anyone point me in a direction towards finding the root of the problem? I am out of ideas. (and hair to pull!)
  7. Thanks for the reply Jim. It happens with every file I open or create. I have tried all views and all workspaces. Changing the scale or grid size has no effect, nor does zooming in or out. I have turned on and off Class/ Layer visibility to no avail. But when I create a text box, the grid and all objects in the file become perfectly visible! It's pretty crazy. I tried installing the same software (the same disc I used on my desk top) on my lap top. The problem does not occur there. I am wondering if this could be a video card issue. Again though, with the same video card I had no problems with VW12. Curiouser and curiouser...
  8. Day One with Vectorworks 2009. I can see all my pallettes but I cannot see the reference grid (Yes I did click "display grid") nor any 2D or 3D objects I create.....UNLESS I add a text box. Yes, I know this sounds totally random but when I create a text box, suddenly I can see all lines and shapes previously drawn as well as the reference grid. This happens both with new files and when I open old ones. I've been running Vectorworks 12 for years but never had this problem. I am running Windows XP on a Compaq with a Pentium 4. Any thoughts?
  9. Thanks. I was able to successfuly use the 2D Rotate tool as suggested. No luck with the 3D tool though, even in new blank files. It's frustrating, as I've used the 3D tool hundreds of times in the past with no problem. I'll try updating to 12.5.3 next.
  10. Howdy. I'm running VectorWorks 12.0 on Windows XP. I am unable to rotate 3D objects (extrudes & meshes) on any axis around either object center or working plane center. I am able to rotate same objects by using the "next mouse click" option. I've been using VectorWorks for years and have never had this problem before. Have I inadvertantly changed a setting somewhere?
  11. After selecting a Knoll furniture object from my Resource Browser and dragging it into my workspace, once it is deselected, I am no longer able to reselect it, move it, or modify it in any way. The only way to remove it is to Undo (Control Z). I do not have the same problem with any other objects, just those in the Knoll folder. I am running VectorWorks 12.0.0. Any thoughts? Thanks.
