I have now determined that the problem is related to the template that I am using, which I created earlier this week based on one of the existing standards (can't remember which one) as the problem does not occur with new, blank documents or with imported documents or with other templates created from scratch.

It is OS 10.3.9 ---looks like I should upgrade?

I have just upgraded to VW12 and I can't save the Maximum Text width for the Callout tool- but it resets itself to 0' after every use (not just from file to file) I have tried saving the changes through the preferences dialogue box and in the object info box and just can't do it...any ideas?
