  1. This morning I have tried a few more things in VW12 w Renderworks. For the most part VW seems stable and pretty speedy as long as I am in wireframe or OpenGL. But rendering times are 50 to 200% slower in Final Quality or Radiosity compared to my iMac G5. As I said in my previous post, the Intel iMac feels much like my G4 Titanium 500 powerbook. The iMacs are 20" with 1gig Ram. The intel has the 256K video. They have the same software programs installed.
  2. Got a 20" Intel iMac this morning. Installed both VW12 and 11.5 via firewire transfer from my G5 20" 2.0 iMac. Have only spent an hour or so but both programs run under Rosetta just fine. They run somewhat slower than on the G5, seem to run about the same speed as on my old Titatnium G4 powerbook. As I said above I have not checked a lot of operations, simply opened a couple of cabin designs in each and rendered, deleted some items, inserted some symbols, xported jpeg images. Simple things like that. I have been looking at other applications as well so will get more into VW later. In general am very impressed with the native Apple programs, especially iPhoto. And safari is really fast. MS Office came over just fine and though slower to boot runs very nicely. Photoshop 7 runs well, slower, but seems stable. Google earth is fine, VPC of course does not run at all. This iMac is really quiet--so far I like it.
