  1. For those times you'd like to use the flood/fill region tool (Inner Boundary Mode within 2D Polygon Tool), I'd love the option to set the tolerance for microscopic gaps between unconnected lines. It's often cumbersome to track down the small gap between two unconnected lines that's causing the filled region to not work. I'd love the ability to set the gap tolerance to something like 1/8" or 1/16". My current method is to select all, Compose into a polyline, and then see which polylines didn't connect. For the short tern, has anyone found a better workaround?
  2. Thanks, Pat. Please put in a word to the developers for the strikethrough option. That ALL CAPS drop down is perfect. How did I not see that before?
  3. Thanks for your help. I realized the T key was the feature I was hoping for. The trick was to guide a line in the intended direction until I got the dashed inference line and THEN press the key. Thanks for your help. How can I mark this post as Solved?
  4. EDIT: Pressing the T key for the Smart Point tool DOES work like I hoped it would. I think the difference was, an inference guide needed to be made first and then the key could be pressed to snap to the X and Y axes. Thanks for yours and Tom W.'s help. My default is to refer to MicroStation which to me was the gold standard of CAD drawing (exclusively because of two-letter keyboard shortcuts) but there if I were wanting to draw a line perfectly horizontal, I'd start my line, hit enter, and forever that line would be locked to the X axis until I clicked to complete the line. Same went for moving selected geometry. It was a really powerful tool for wanting to align geometry that is outside of the current screen. Currently in VW though, if I select a wall or some other geometry and hold shift for instance, it locks to the X axis but only until I get close to the y-axis. Then it snaps to the Y or some other set angle, defeating the purpose of wanting to align the wall to a point somewhere directly above or below the item. My workaround has been to draw a 'guide' line, snap it to that, and then delete the line; making one operation into four steps.
  5. Missing text features: Strikethrough and ALL CAPS (missing from OIP) text option boxes (like with Bold, Italics, Underline). Shocking that VW does not have the ability to either strikethrough text or ALL CAPS with the check of a box. I would love that feature as currently the only workarounds are to place a manual line through the text in post and physically re-type non-CAPS text word for word. This would be such an easy thing to implement into VW
  6. I'd love the ability to reference a drawing that can have other embedded references in them! Take for example, referencing in a site plan that contains a reference to the floor plan within, much like MicroStation is able to do. Or for example, referencing a building section to another file that contains in itself an interior elevation. Same goes for Viewports within viewports. In the right situation, it's such a powerful tool. As of right now, the reference and viewport depths in VW are sadly limited to 1.
  7. Thanks. Reassigned the key but it does not work correctly per my first post. Still wishing for that feature to be added!
  8. This one should be such an obvious change but . . . wishlist item to change 'Floating View Panes' to be workstation specific instead of file specific! For those working in an office with some folks on multiple monitors, some on one, having that extra monitor for an extra view pane is crucial. However, being file specific, each employee has to reopen or close the view plane every time they open a file depending on their monitor setup. And that floating plane opens for everyone, regardless of one or multiple monitor setups. It should seem so obvious that view preferences should use workstation logic, just like reorganizing the other tabs, shortcuts and panes.
  9. I reassigned the T key ages ago as the Text shortcut. I'm in the Workspace Editor dialog box now trying to reassign the key but it doesn't seem to be found. Do you know where to find the tool? I swear I've combed through every tool for "Set Smart Point, Edge, or Vector Snap Lock"
  10. Yes, but nothing beats the speed of keyboard shortcuts. And right now, the defaulted shortcuts are more like "longcuts"
  11. The closest Vectorworks gets at the moment is the ability to turn off classes that you don't want to print but that's clunky and inefficient. I'd love the ability to set a class to be non-printing, visible on Vectorworks (like with guide lines) but do not print like so many other programs have.
  12. Wishlist: Right now, cycling through Mode Groups is clunky and requires "guessing" at the number of key presses (U, or I) to get the desired sub-tool. I'd love the ability to map specific submenu items to keyboard shortcuts. For instance, to intersect lines (single object connect vs dual object connect), I have to first press the desired key, then glance up to the top to see which submenu item is active, then press the desired Mode Group key a specific number of times to get the desired tool. At that point I might as well skip the keyboard shortcut and click directly on the tool, completely negating the need for keyboard shortcuts entirely. Either way, it's clunky and inefficient.
  13. Wishlist item: The ability to lock to the X and Y axis when drawing. Right now, the closest Vectorworks gets is snapping to 90 degrees but snapping to a long enough line will cause the drawn line to jump to the opposite axis.
