  1. OK, you want a full jamb in a thick wall but want to place the door in the middle of the jamb, right?

Don't think you can do it with the door PIO. You would have to create a door symbol that is set up that way. You could take the door PIO as far as you can go with it re. definition (size, thickness, etc.) and then make it a group and then a symbol. You will have to re-create any 3D geometry you would want though.

This type of door arrangement will inhibit the door from swinging fully open, right?

  2. Terry, I have inserted a hatch on a rectangle on the screen plane using the Modify/Hatch menu command, and it stays where I put it when viewed in a VP.

Are you actually using a hatch, or a texture? You describe using the attribute mapping tool which leads me to think the latter. You use that to map textures, not hatches, I think.

  3. Bruce, I don't have the manual so don't know how the exercise shows it to be done.

Does the worksheet show up in the Resource Browser even if it disappears from the screen? I would think it would disappear if you are editing the boundary because it assumes (?) that it will need to be recalculated in any case.

Re. adding an image; in the full screen mode, is that the "add an image" tool? It asks for a URL though.

    Thanks.

  4. Bruce,

I am not a Landmark user but I replicated your process and got the bearings and lengths on the sides and a reference bubble for the information on the arc which was in the file as a worksheet. In VWA 2011 it came in as part of the Property Line Object but was also viewable as a worksheet.

  5. Typically you would use the Door Schedule to be found in Tools/Reports?/VA Create Schedule. At least that's available in VW Architect.

    Which version are you using?

Zeynep, you should create a signature in your Community Board account so others can see easily what system and version of VW you are using.

Sorry if I was wrong about your English.

  6. I am not sure what is happening with the line weights changing apparent widths in zooming in and out.

However, select one of the problem lines to discover in the Attributes Palette what lineweight it is. If it is a weird lineweight you can change it there. Or use the Select Similar Tool (it looks like a magic wand) to select all lines like that one, and change them all at once.

I bet you have a very thick line that is not appearing properly in zooming because it is so wide.

  7. I see no one has answered your question yet. I think it may be because of the English. I realize you probably don't speak it as a first language.

If the problem is you can't get a Space on the drawing, it may be because of how you are trying to draw it.

Your attachments seem to show that you have the 'bucket' option selected to make the Space. If so, you need walls in your drawing forming a room to use the bucket to make the space; just click on the area enclosed by the walls et voila. You could draw the Space using the polygon or rectangle modes instead.

    Hope this helps.

  8. I'm using VW 2011 but you can select the order of appearance of the listings of your sheet layers in the Sheet Dialog box and the layers in the Navigation Palette as you choose, by number (ascending or descending) or name (ascending or descending).

The simple answer, I guess, would be to number your sheets as you want to see them, 1, 2, 3, etc. and then sort them that way in the above locations.

    HTH.

  9. Guy,

You can draw a circle (the rope in section) and then extrude it along a path (any line, polygon, nurbs curve, etc.) which you also draw.

Draw them and then select them both and use "Extrude Along Path" in the Model menu. You select one as the path and one as the profile.

The path can be a 2D object or 3D.

  10. Paola,

The site model you have created is the DTM.

You select the 3D Mesh option when you create or edit the DTM. Select the DTM, and then in the Object Info Palette, select Site Model Settings, you will see on the right side of that dialog box the 3D options.

You have to know that the site model actually has a dual personality - it is for both proposed and existing site information so be careful which you select. If you modify the DTM at all with site modifiers, those changes will only show up in the proposed, and will have to be updated.

  11. I am not a big user of Keynotes but here is what I think is happening.

You created a list of notes on a sheet layer as text, numbers and text, right?

Now you want to refer to them as keynotes, yes?

The keynotes actually come from a database within VW, and you add to the keynotes either through editing the database or by using the call-out tool, and in the IOP, indicate that it is to be treated as a keynote and which set of the database you want it added to.

If I am right above, just use the call-out tool as a number to correspond to the note you want to refer to but don't make it a keynote in the OIP.

    HTH.

  12. Paola,

Are you dealing with 3d contours? Or are they only 2d?

Either way, have you created a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) from your contours? That is the "object" which you can render (colour or texture).

If so, make sure that the DTM itself has a solid fill to see it with OpenGL or other render engines.

  13. unicorn,

There is a tick box to show the top riser/tread (or not) of the stairs. Have you got that turned on?

Why do you want to show the first few steps to show "through" the top floor? Do you mean you want to be able to see the first few steps going down when you look at the top floor plan? You can control where the stairs break is going to be for both your lower and top floor in the stairs tool, I think.

You should also create a signature to indicate what system/version of the software you are on, too.

  14. Paola,

You are correct about doing the drawings on the design layer, and you create the Viewport there too, but tell it which Sheet Layer to show on.

You can change the scale of the VP but that won't affect visibility so that won't correct your problem. You do that through the scale box in the Object Info Palette.

    Does this help?

You're not trying to create the VP on the Sheet Layer, are you?
