  1. Ionw, so you are saying that your performance increased largely with the replacement of the video card. How about rendering speeds? I am finding that there seems to be a lag, not on the actual rendering, but on the preparation of the rendering, or the calculation of the geometry. Sometimes the colored wheel spins what seems like forever. Once the rendering starts to happen it isnt that bad. Selecting polygons takes a huge amount of time rather than the old PC with VW10.

  5. Hmm.. Definately some issues. I have 2 computers side by side, VW10 on PC, and VW 11 on a brand new Mac. The PC is a P4-1.8 with only 700 ram. Mac, agin is dual 1.8 with 2G ram. On DXF imports, and polygon selections, the PC is far far quicker, up to 14 times quicker. Definately software issues, since the Mac outperforms in all other tasks. This is quite dissappointing, because I went to whole new system, to Mac and VW11 to take advantage of Mac stability, and (I thought) speed!
  6. Heres a perfect example. I have 2 computers sitting side by side at my desk: I have an old P4 1.8G single processor running a XP, VW-10. 700Megs Ram. I imported a DXF into VW10, and it took .5 seconds. I also have a brand new Dual G5 1.8G Macintosh running OS 10.3, 2 Gigs of RAM, and it took 1.5 sec for the import. Second: I wanted to select all the polygons on the imported object, so I selected them all. The old P4 took about 1 second. The new Mac took 14 sec! Now, just to clarify, the new Mac is screaming faster than the PC in all other tasks including Photoshop work, PDF creation etc. The Mac is not the issue. I am definately disappointed in the performance of VW on the Mac, and I am convinced it is a software issue. Your engineers definately need to take a hard look at some of these issues!! Your software is fantastic, but the speed in OSX is substandard.

  9. I dont want to clip a surface, though. All I want to do is draw a wavy line through a rounded object, and split the object into 2 pieces along the wavy object.
  10. I found what you mentioned... My texture in edit mode is perfectly square, however when it is applied to my object, it looks like there is a 4-5 degree angle. Any ideas?

  12. I have a large area of ground in a rounded, irregular shape. I need to split the object with a rounded split, and it looks like my only options are straight line splits. Any ideas on how I can do this? Thanks
  13. I have a dual G5 with 2G RAM. My machine is screaming fast in all other applications (Photoshop, printing PDF's) however I am definately dissappointed in the performance of VW with OSX. I believe that VW isnt currently programmed to take advantage of the 64 Bit Processor in the Macs yet, hopefully in future updates it will. I have heard that OSX 10.4 will speed things up as well.
  14. I have a grid-style texture in Renderworks, but I need the texture to be parallel to a certain object. How can I change the direction of the texture? Thanks

  16. Hi. I am a fresh user, and I chose VW over AC for a variety of reasons. I was initially cautious to switch to a platform that wasn't 'industry standard', however I am totally convinced this was the right move. The rendering package is pretty decent, however falls short of 3ds Max, or Viz. What type of estimating are you doing?
  17. I am attempting to creat a simple NURBS surface from a series of nurbs curves. Anything and everything I do says that I have Surface could not be created from Curve network. 1. I have created my geometry, and I have a nurbs curve attached to where I want to see the arch in the surface. Any advice or tips? (Forgive me as I am brand new at this)
  18. I have been arm-wrestling with this for a while now. Sometimes this works, other times it doesnt. As far as I know, I am properly attaching records and editing criteria properly, however when I go to print a report, the records dont list. Upon selecting the symbol, sure enough, all information lists. Anyone else having this problem?
  19. I need to report records, not only on the symbol inserted, but also a record from a different record format nested inside the symbol. Anyone program any interesting code to pull this out?
  20. I got it to work. I had put in the default information by editing 2D component, despite of that it didnt work. What I had to do is add a 2D line, save the symbol, then edit the symbol and remove the 2D line. Now it works... Wierd.
  21. I have properly attached records to symbols, but when I create a report to show all records, nothing shows up. Upon entering back into the symbol, it reveals that proper information is attached into the default of the symbol. Any ideas?
