Hi, novice user here and have searched help but cannot find my answer to : I wish to create another wardrobe symbol from one I already have to different dimensions BUT not alter the existing symbols in the drawing. I have tried editing the symbol to the new dimensions and it changes all instances, but I know there is a menu somewhere that says "Leave instance in place". I did this so long ago I cannot remember quite how its done and its driving me mad !! Thank you Regards

Hi, I have a question regarding the import of a 1:100 pdf plan which I want to import into VW 2009. I have imported it OK but am struggling with the scaling using scale object palette. This palette works fine but I cannot figure out how to get the scale correct on screen. I have measured between two points on the actual drawing and am trying to recreate this on screen. Any tips more than welcome. i am sure its simple but I seem to have a mental block. Regards David

Hi, I have one drawing where the window symbol is unavailable. The door symbol works, and I have tried to excite it with the symbol insertion tool and the 2D insertion tool but it just does not work from the tool box. Any ideas welcome please. Regards David

Hi, sorry two more basic questions unable to find answers to. 1) What is the significance of wall direction. I notice they don't join well if in opposite directions. Is the idea to have them travel around the drawing in a common direction and if so why? 2) I am on a Mac and using button three on the mouse for zooming. I cannot find a control over the zoom speed for this in either VW2009 preferences or Apple system preferences. It is quite twitchy and I would like to tame it a little. Thank you David

Hi, very basic question but I cannot find the answer in the book or in the FAQ. I was happily drawing a plan and then realized that the walls had no fill as they did when I started. I did the 25 undo's to try and discover what I had done but to no avail. I am working in the none class and I have tried custom selection of walls and attempted to fill them in the attributes palette but this is grayed out. I have checked the wall and none classes for use at creation fill ( chosen white and even grey) but still they have no fill. They all work and I can continue but I want them filled. These are the sorts of problems I hate as lots of others are in the book , on the forum or in the backtrack sequence. Any ideas welcome Regards David

Hi, still having problems with this. Classes are set to" show /modify all others" interactive scaling set and double clicked and entered crop mode ( it says so in the yellow box) but there is nothing to work the crop with. I remember doing this in version 12 and there were crop handles, all i have here is the drawing and nothing happens. I have done this in a test doc ( same template on a simple shape) same result. I am obviously doing something wrong here. Regards David

Hi, I am having problems editing my viewport crop. I enter the crop command into the viewport ( this is confirmed by the yellow box saying exit viewport crop) but I cannot get hold of any handles to do the crop. I see a faint grey rectangle but it either disappears or has no effect. The edit annotations command works fine, but not the crop. I have also tried with the change double click command for the mouse without success. Any help appreciated. Thank you David

Hi, The walls in my drawings have lost the little blue extension handles that were there before . This is applicable to old drawings and new ones. I have searched preferences but seem unable to find a box to tick. Can you advise what I have inadvertently changed please. Thank you David

Hi, a newbie question again. I am modeling an extended quadrant shower cubicle. I have created the rectangle and then an arc for the one corner and clipped the surface to finalize my shape. However it wont extrude. I obviously have the wrong type of object to do this and don't know what is wrong with it. I have tried converting it to NURBS and also grouping it. I have also tried to use the compose option without success. The shape is a simple rectangle with one arced corner which is the plan shape of the shower cubicle. I intend to produce a solid and shell extrude it to form the side walls but am now stuck. Any help appreciated David

Hi, just about to post the same question re a floor made for a two tier model which when made with the irregular polygon tool does not render and when made with the standard polygon tool does render. Thank you Islandmon for the "Closed tip" in the info box as I just spent 1/2 hour trying to puzzle this out and was about to post ! Hi,very basic question . I have drawn my plan in design layer. I have created sections fromit in viewports, all working fine. I want to have a plan showing my sections annotated accordingly. It shows on my design layer but if I try to create a viewport of it the section lines showing on the design layer disappear. How do I get one/two sheets of various views including the deign layer plan showing the section planes. All is OK except this plan with sections not showing in the viewport/sheet. I suspect I have a working principal wrong here. Thank you David

Hi from a novice, Is there any reasonably detailed info on modeling 3d objects such as an oval washbasin readily accessible. I have tried extrude along path with a profile and say an oval path with mixed success. I would like to be able to do this with some predictability though. Perhaps this is the wrong way to do it and thats what I need to find out. Thank you David
