  1. yes Katie, but not size of specs. These should be adjustable through the viewport (as opposed globally for the file)since several details at different scaleS (VP's)originate from the SAME drawing. Pls add this to wish list, since without this adjustment THIS tool is UNUSABLE.
  2. how do you adjust line wt on linear material's gyp board detail dots? they're WAY too thick and ruin my drawing? thx carpalmer

    video card

getting ready to upgrade and I understand Video Cards are not critical in the performance of Renderworks (except Open GL, which I never use). Any suggestions between GeForce 8800 GTS vs Quaddro equivalent? I will also be running Photo shop and Cinema 4D... Grateful for some advise

  6. thanks Dave, I got the dual cores, so I assume I need not be concerened with hyperthreading... what about quad cores, is this set up taken advantage of in WW? I'm still getting long rendering times, or unfinished Radiosity "freezes" carpalmer
  7. how do you enable hyperthreading, and what does it mean / do? thx carpalmer
  8. interested in getting better renderings, what's the word on Cinema 4D R10? Vectorworks users' are you pleased with the import/export capabilities and the overall interface? What about rendering times and quality as compared to Renderworks? thx for y0ur feedback, carpalmer
  9. thanks Mike, which one do you use / recommend? CINEMA seems of a much higher quality...? Carpalmer
  10. curious to know what rendering software Vectorworks users turn to for higher end renderings (ie: like the ones you see in the architecture magazines - soft shadows, depth of field, etc, etc...) also for blob shapes modeling. Anyone on 3D VIZ, Maxwell? What's the feedback? Most interested in modelling in Vectorworks and exporting to another software. Thanks Carpalmer

  12. come on! drawing them twice?! that's not what CAD is about, besides the whole point of generating plans from a MINIMUM amount of design layers is that as things change (always seem to) you don't have to correct (or forget to) a bunch of layers... hope VW gets this worked out on the next release since it is a critical issue. Carpalmer
  13. In working the "VW WAY" and generating all plans from a minimum amount of design layers, how does one generate a structural and an architectural plan (VP) from the SAME design layer. The walls would have to read differently in the respective VP's (ie: only structural wall element in structural and structural and finish components in architectural). This would be achievable if wall components could be class specific, and so be turned on or off as required... Can VW take notice of this wish list request? Anyone has a good work around for this? Thanks, Carpalmer

  15. thanks dcont, but how is your method with views better to VP's? carpalmer
  16. In my quest for new found efficiency I am trying to set my drawings as VW intends you to (layers / classes/ views/ standards). How are users using saved views in this process? I usually just work with the design layers and viewports to set my sheets up. Looking forward to people's feedback, Carplamer
  17. thanks Charles, will read up on your plug ins... in the mean time has anyone out there tried them and would like to comment? Regards Carpalmer
  18. I'm ready to set up my small office's CAD standards, ie: Sheets, layers and classes so that I don't have to go through the excercise every time I start a new project... what's the best info resource out there to help me on this? I've looked at the available books, but they seem very basic and cover loads of stuff I already know. The Model Setup and Issue Manager seem too convoluted to me... any good threads out there please? Many thanks, Carpalmer
  19. after, ACAD 06 with XREFS, but other files with XREFS imported fine. Any insight? Thx
  20. VW12.5.1 Import freezes at about 97%, file is about 1.5 MB... only having problem with 2 out of about 10 files from same source and of similar sizes, tried both DWG and DXF formats. Any suggestions? Thanks, CARPALMER
  21. i've done that... but they don't come on thx carpalmer
  22. Tools are gone, and palettes are on. How do I fix? Also, is there a smart way of extending several lines to another, this does not work if lines to be extended are all selected and are at an angle since spacing is altered... thx carpalmer
  23. wow, you're fast BG. It worked... Thanks so much. Carpalmer
  24. imported a file from ACAD and I'm getting several dashed lines in the X and Y going off to infinity...! any ideas? Thx, Carpalmer
